Nikki groaned as she studied the map she'd received from the office. Where were the girls' dormitories? The guy said that they were behind the Training Area, wherever that was.

Nikki looked at the compass rose, north was facing up, which had to be a good thing. Now to know which way she was facing. Nikki turned into a big circle and noticed the front building she'd just come from was currently to her left. It took some simple logic from there on to find the Training Area.

Now- Nikki had originally been a little excited to go to the Training Area. Not to participate, but to watch. She was a little boy crazy, but when she saw the Training Area there were no guys actually there. They were all girls, super strong, tall, toned, and skinny werewolves.

She saw the littlest one, who was probably a little taller than Nikki's height- a solid 5"4', doing one handed push ups. Nikki just stared. The nerves that she'd been hiding suddenly made themselves known. The girl next to the small one caught her eye; Nikki's blue-green eyes collided with the blonde's deep, pure blue. Nikki jumped a little and tore her eyes away.

She kept her eyes forward all the way toward her dorm.

She looked at she schedule and then back up at the door. This was it. She opened the door to find a girl sitting on her bed, nodding her head rhythmically with headphones in. Her eyes snapped opened when Nikki entered. The girl had darkish brown hair and golden brown eyes that stared eerily out of her pale face.

The girl suddenly burst into a smile, " Hey new girl, I'm Hannah!"

" Uh, hi, my name's, uh, Nikki," Nikki tried her best to stop her nervous voice from coming out. First impressions were always important to her.

" You look short to be a wolf," Hannah slid off her bed standing on the floor and tilted her head curiously.

" Ha," Nikki's laugh was a little short and stumbled at the end. She hadn't shifted into a wolf yet, and she was never planning to. People referring to her as a wolf didn't sit well with her.

" Chill man, we can't all be tall beautiful blondes can we?" There was a bitter, scorned edge in Hannah's voice, and a sad smile lit up her face.

" Sure," Nikki avoided Hannah's eyes, there were just like the blonde's from earlier. Something that challenged her in a way Nikki just couldn't quite comprehend.

Nikki put her suitcase on the empty bed. There was a plain wooden nightstand and a small dresser next to it.

" You have five uniforms in your dresser," Hannah pitched in when she saw Nikki unpacking, " They all look pretty...big."

Nikki's eyebrows furrowed as she opened her dresser to find a plaid skirt, in red, brown and silver, and a red shirt. They looked huge. There were also silver gym shorts and a red t-shirt, obviously a gym uniform. They were even bigger. The people in the office couldn't actually expect her to wear this, right?

Nikki shook her head a little bit, " This can't be right, I'll have to go to the office."

" Whatever, but you better do it soon," Hannah muttered, filing her black nails, " Though fall year starts in two days, testing is tomorrow."

Testing? That sounded scary.

" T-testing?" Nikki just couldn't keep the shivering fear from gathering up in her.

" Yeah, you know, to decide where to place you," Hannah just studied her nails, seemly uninteresting, " Don't worry, you don't have to shift. It's just a test of strength."

" Uh, great," Nikki's voice matched Hannah's uninterested tone, and for once, she hid her nervousness.

" Hey, I'm sure we'll get along great," Hannah sounded like she was trying to put a cheerful tone in there, but it just didn't end up sounding cheerful.

" Yeah, sure. I'll just go to the office to return these," Nikki didn't really feel any pull to stay here and have awkward conversations with a girl that really didn't seem to care.

" Whatever," Hannah called out; " I'll give you the grand tour of the dorms when you get back!"

The secretary simply said, " They'll fit perfectly when you shift." That was that. She didn't know anything at all about shifting, whatsoever. She didn't know anything about werewolves either.

When she'd entered her room, she just put her clothes away and sat on her bed until Hannah came back and toured the dorm. It was basic, and Nikki learned fast. She was still insanely worried about this "test of strength".

She and Hannah got along fine, as long as Nikki bit her tongue whenever she was around Hannah. Hannah, who was currently listening to music once again, was easily annoyed. It was just best to leave it alone. Nikki sat up on her bed and put her head in-between her knees. What was she doing here anyways? It was all so surreal. She wasn't a monster. She had no super strength, speed, senses and no wolf form; that seemed like the only thing anyone cared about around here. How would she ever belong? Especially after this test, which would determine her as the odd one out, she was definitely doomed.

She could just put on an angry façade and be Hannah. She'd probably just fail at that too though.

Test day! The fear in the pit of Nikki stomach started to churn. Today was the day she got to make a fool out of herself. She blew a little breath out of her teeth as sunlight streamed into her face.

" Wake up new girl, and put on your clothes. It's test day," Her voice actually sounded a little excited.

" Good day for you?" Nikki asked, still half asleep, as she wondered over to her desk grabbed her weekend clothes and pulled them on.

" Of course, I've been training," Her voice fell to its usual flat, low monotone, but even it still seemed to carry a little bit of excitement.

Nikki just stuffed her terribly oversized clothes into her bag, and scurried after Hannah to the Training Area. Maybe if she injured herself they wouldn't make her take it? She seriously considered falling down the stairs that they were practically racing down.

Nikki then thought about it logically; werewolves could heal couldn't they? They'd probably just make her take it anyway.

On the way they passed a group of girls; the only one Nikki recognized was the blonde.

" Are you sure you want to take this test Nicole?"

The girl had straight red hair that stopped a little above her elbows; side swept bangs graced her forehead. She had the same yellow-brown eyes as Hannah. She was tall too, at least 5"8', and she was definitely strong. Nikki had to look up just to see her. The whole effect was intimidating and awe-inspiring.

This was a military school right?

" Yeah, failing is so embarrassing," Someone from the group pitched in, and the red haired girl's smile definitely turned sassy.

" Leave her alone," Hannah grumbled next to me, " You were new too once."

Nikki smiled, finally feeling a comradeship with Hannah. It gave Nikki a little sense of security; someone actually stood up for her.

" I was never that new." The girl had walked away, but her words stayed. Nikki was new. New to James Wood, new to being a werewolf, and new to her life, but even as her butterflies flew in her stomach, Nikki knew no one could be new forever. She hoped.
