October 1st , 2019.
The air was crisp on the first morning of October, a light chill could be felt under the layers of clothing at 8:30am. Morning commuters were hurrying to work, students, clutching cups of coffee bustled past, making there way to the city university, though life was busy it was oddly calming. The shape of a girl making her way through the crowds, wrapped up in warm clothes, scarf tucked neatly around her neck, stopped as she neared her destination. Crossing the street and hurrying into the warmth of the building she began to unwrap her scarf, her hair spilling out onto her shoulders, now tinged with gold from the lights above, as she made her way up the elegant staircase set in the centre of the building, once she makes it to the top she disappears down a corridor, ducking into the room on her right.
Eleanor Goldstone was many things, but what she wasn't was late. Walking into her class room, her eyes dart around the room, taking in the familiar decor, bookshelves on one side and posters of famous quotes from famous writers dotted around the room and the smell of books in the air. The literature class room at her university was cosy and inviting making her want to be on time to spend more time inside it. She walks over to her desk and sits down, removing her coat and bag and placing her books and pencil case on the table, second year of university already she thought to herself, only last year was I getting lost around the building, how time flies she thought. Soon snapped out of her thinking when Mr Andrews her literature teacher walks in welcoming them back after their break, no sooner has he said hello when he's off on the years outline of work. Eleanor allows herself to get lost in the thought of new topics and more writing. Hopefully this will be a promising year.
"Roman, nice to see you're on time this year" Miss Noel says sarcastically as the boy walks into class, "please refrain from being late like you were last year please" she continues as he quickly gets out his materials ready for the lesson. Organisation skills were not exactly Romans' best attributes, having over slept his first morning back... again, his mind was else where however as he thought about meeting his friends and girlfriend after the summer, he'd missed them, well his friends at least, his girlfriend Aisha however not so much, but he didn't want to dwell to much on that subject, maybe this year will be better he thought to himself, as he pushed back his floppy brown hair and tried to focus on Miss Noel's teaching.
This year everything changes.
