Sophie's POV

The morning sun scorched my fair skin as I turned the soil on my adoptive mother and father's farm. Beads of sweat trickled down my skin as I finished my task. "Sophie! Sophie!" my adoptive mother, Edaline Ruewen, shouted from our quaint cottage. My head snapped up and saw her running towards me with a scroll of some sort in her hand. I jogged up next to her and waited for her to stop panting.

"Yes, Edaline?" I questioned.

"Someone entered you as a nominee to..." she trailed off, looking me in the eye, "marry Prince Fitz of Everglen." My face turned as white as snow.

"M-marry? But I don't even know the Prince, and I am certainly not a princess, o-or a noble of high class!" I stuttered, my brain not computing anything. "Who would do this?" I finally managed to say. Edaline shrugged her shoulders, implying that she did not know.

She handed me the scroll and I peeled of the wax seal. I unrolled it and read its contents.

Sophie Foster of the Havenfield realm has been nominated to court the Prince and eventually  marry him. She has a one in a hundred chance of doing so. A carriage from the  palace will come to pick her up at high noon.

         Sincerely, The Royal Staff

Edaline pushed me inside our home to pack my things. I packed my clothes and necessities into my leather bag and put it aside. I fell asleep on my bed, awaiting the carriage that would come later in the day.

Unknown POV

I walked away from the nominating booth and pulled my black cloak over me, shrouding myself in the shadows. I had nominated Sophie Foster, a village girl from the realm of Havenfield. I knew just what was going to happen to her. Sophie Foster wasn't ordinary. I would kill her, or get rid of her in some way. I would get rid of the prince. Of every royal. I would become ruler. I would become immortal.

"Sophie, wake up!" Grady shouted, startling me out of my deep slumber

"Sophie, wake up!" Grady shouted, startling me out of my deep slumber. I scrambled off my bed, grabbed my leather bag and enveloped Grady and Edaline in a big hug. I ran out of the cottage and stepped into the carriage, feeling like the princess I wasn't. Then, when the driver pulled off, I waved good-bye to my adoptive parents. The scene outside the window changed from lush farmlands to tall, snow capped mountains in the distance. The carriage passed through forests and fields until it stopped at a palace, looking as if it were carved out of crystal. The Palace of Everglen, I thought, glancing around. Out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw a cloaked figure, but brushed the feeling off. Then, I saw a tall, handsome young man with teal eyes. The Prince.

A/N: Hey! This is my first story on Wattpad. I will take constructive criticism, no hate though, please. I'll keep doing the Unknown POVs, until I reveal the person's identity. Thanks for reading, if you do😅!
