~~Chapter 2~~
*Raven's POV*
I was abruptly turned around and thrown aside. I practically flew right right across the vast clearing at lightning speed. I flipped my body around just in time to see my "captor" sneer evilly and laugh at my father. He was wielding the knife, poised right in front of Father's heart.
"No!! Father look ou--," I didn't have a chance to finish my scream of warning as my body slammed into something hard. A tree.
My back was the first to make impact. Then, my neck, and finally my head. I heard a vicious CRACK an instant later, followed by a flood of jagged pain. I fell, no, crumpled to the ground with a soft thud. I let out a shriek.
But nothing, not even the most horrendous pain could compare to what I heard next. I was struggling to keep my eyes open. Hundreds of little black dots intruded on my vision.
I heard a loud tearing noise come from in front of me. I cringed automatically, not wanting to know what it was, not wanting to see, or hear. I knew exactly what it was, what he had done. I just didn't, no, I couldn't be proved right. Not now, not this time.
I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to remain oblivious to the pain. I had a pretty damn good idea what was wrong with me. But as much as I tried not to, all my mind could think of was the white-hot spasms jolting though me.
The top of my spinal cord, I think, was broken. Or, at least it was cracked badly. My neck hurt like father-almighty so that must not be in the best condition either. And to top it off, I had a really, really, really, bad headache. Yeah, that's going to leave a mark in the morning.....If I survived till morning.
Suddenly, my eyes snapped open as the disgusting stench hit me. My jaw dropped open in horror at the scene I was witnessing in front of me. My eyes fixed themselves on my father, or what I could make out of him. Nausea nearly sweep through me as my stomach did its own acrobatic show.
I desperately wanted to close my eyes for all eternity. I wanted to crawl away and hide in the comforting cover of the dark shadows in the forest. I wanted to die, to get brainwashed. Anything, oh god, anything to rid myself of the image set right in front of me and refused to remove its imprint off my brain.
I was staring at the still alive corpse of my father. He was still alive, but-just barely. His eyes were no longer bright ruby-crimson color. Now, they were his familiar emerald green. In fact, his whole face was basically fine, barely even a scratch. The only difference was his skin, as pale as it was before, it was somehow an even paler white now. It was a chalky-white. His eyes were narrowed and his eyebrows were screwed up in obvious pain. He was panting, his teeth clenched together. Most likely, trying not to scream out.
It wasn't until my eyes moved farther down his body did I feel I was going to be ill. As in, vomit for hours until you pass out ill. Nice image.
His perfect, once-pristine button down shirt was torn and ripped. It hung it shredded tatters. Its original satin blackness was stained with blotches of something deep red. Blood. I could see his chest through the pieces.
I clutched my arm to my stomach and pressed my lips hard together. Uhhhh god. Through all the blood, I could see a long, lightning-bolt shaped scar. At least, that's what I thought it was. It ran the whole length of his torso, from the bottom of his collarbone, to an inch or away from his bellybutton.
