"This is gonna be the best year ever", I say to my best friend Aidan excitedly. Aidan closes his locker "hopefully." Aida. and I met our friends at the senior quad. We sit down next to each other with our friends, Skylar, Anthony, Laura and Austin. "It feels so weird being here", Austin says. Skylar smiles "we're finally seniors!" I cheer "I could get used to this." I look around the quad. There were fancy benches with planters and they had three vending machines full of snacks.
We caught up since we hadn't seen each other in a couple weeks. I had lots of fun in the summer with everyone and nobody would shut up about how they're gonna miss summer soon and all the fun things we did.
Aidan, Anthony, Skylar and I had our first class together. When the bell rang we walked to class together while laughing about an inside joke. Class ends and my friends and I walk out of class together. I say bye to Skylar and Anthony then Lucas and I walk together to our second period. "Wanna do something after school", Aidan asks. "Yeah with the group or just us", I ask. "With the group. We should go out to eat after school", Aidan says and we walk into our class. We sit down together "sure. I've been craving in n out the past week", I chuckle.
"In n out it is", Aidan says as the teacher begins to talk.
~Lunch~
Aidan and I sit down at our table with our friends after we got lunch. "Y'all wanna grab some in n out after school", Aidan asks the table. We all agree. "Can someone drive me there? I walked to school", I pout and look at Aidan. "Fine", he smiles pretending to annoyed. "Thank youuu", I say and hug his arm. "You're not playin' music in the car", Aidan says. "We'll see 'bout that", I wink.
Once we finish lunch we leave the cafeteria and walk to the senior quad outside where we take pictures and videos of us doing dumb stuff. Anthony ran towards the planter and jumped on it and started twerking. I was laughing my ass off while filming on my phone. Austin and Skylar started cheering and hyping him up before the dean told him to get off.
We all groaned sadly but continued laughing after the dean left. "I hate that dean. I swear he watches me like a hawk", Aidan says. "Maybe because you get into trouble so much", I say sarcastically. "True", Anthony says. "You my dude, need to stop getting into trouble and the dean won't watch you like a hawk", Laura says. Aidan mimics Laura with his faces.
We walk around school together while laughing at the video of Anthony. "If anyone posts that I'm gonna punch all of you", Anthony says sternly. "No promises. I could use this", I say and laugh. Anthony gives me a death stare but I playfully punch him in the arm "you won't hurt me. You can't live without me", I smirk and he rolls his eyes.
~After School~
"That wasn't so bad", I say as I walk out of class with Anthony, Aidan and Austin.
"I already know that teachers gonna be a biiitch", Anthony says. "Stereotypes", Austin says to Anthony. "She has a bitchy face. He's kinda right", Aidan says. "Whatever y'all say", Austin says. I hug Austin and say bye to Anthony before I walk with Aidan to his car. "We are not and I repeat are not playing girly songs in the car", Aidan says sternly. I laugh "please." He shakes his head no. "Please", I ask again. "Y/n.......NO", he says. I frown grumpily "you're no fun."
"Oh hell no. Don't start that, I am fun", Aidan says. "You're fun but if you let me play my music in the car you'll be even more fun", I wink. "Still no", Aidan says and opens the car door for me. "Meanie", I pout. "You love me. You really do", Aidan says and smirks. I punch his arm playfully "whatever."
I had to listen to Aidans dumb rock and Gerard way music the whole way to in n out. It wasn't that bad but I wanted to listen to Billie Eilish or Ariana Grande. Hmph.
"What do you want", Aidan asks as we're ordering our food. "No. I'll pay for my food", I say. Aidan gives me a look "no. I will pay because I am nice."
"Sometimes", I chuckle. "Just get something", Aidan says. I order a burger, fries and milkshake and Aidan gives me a death stare. I laugh "you asked what I wanted Aidy." "The one day I try being nice", Aidan mumbles and inserts his credit card. "Thank you best friend", I say and hug his arm. "Anything for youuu", he says and smiles a tiny bit sarcasticly.
"I love youuuu." I pout. "Don't ruin it", he says and takes his card out. I laugh as we sit back down with our friends. "First day of senior year, not that bad", Skylar says.
"Let's just hope it's like that the whole year", Laura says and takes a sip of her soda. "This year better be memorable. Meaning all y'all going to the dances and parties and dumb events", Anthony tells us. "I'm a huge party girl. Tell me the time and address and I'll be there bitch", I say cheerfully. "I'm talking to Skylar and Laura", Anthony says and looks at them. "What? I go to parties", Laura says "sometimes", she mumbles. "I will drag you down to every high school party this year", I joke. "You gotta have fun this year. It's the last year of high school", Skylar says. "So you're going", Lucas raises an eyebrow. "Maybe", Skylar says. "That's a yes", Anthony says.
We get our food and start eating while re-watching the video of Anthony at lunch. "I got to get home. I'll see you guys tomorrow", Skylar says grabbing her stuff. I whine "Aww. Bye", I say and hug Skylar. "I'm gonna walk her", I tell the group and walk with Skylar to her car.
"How was the ride with Aidan", Skylar grins. She was the only person who knew I had a crush on Aidan. I may have been crushing on him since we met in middle school... "It was good. He wouldn't let me play my music though", I pout grumpily. "Is he taking you home", Skylar asks. "Yeah", I smile excitedly. "Okay. Have fun girl", Skylar says before hugging me and getting into her car.
I walk back into in n out and grab my milkshake from the table. "When are we leaving", I ask Aidan. "Let me finish my fries", Lucas says and smiles fries in his mouth. I laugh and sit next to him. "That was bomb", Austin says as we walk out in n out together. "I will never get sick of their food", I say.
We say bye to our friends and I hug Aidan's arm as we walk to his car. I let go of his arm and he whines then puts his arm around me. I get a text from my mom and my phone dings. I read the text. I'm gonna be gone tonight for a night shift and I don't want you home alone in the night. Can you stay at a friends house? I excitedly text her.
Yeah I'll stay with Aidan She texts back. Okay.
You can go to school with him or go back to the house tomorrow morning. I read it and text her okay back. I excitedly turn my phone off and Aidan looks at me. "Why you so excited", Aidan asks. "My mom isn't gonna be home so can I stay at your house", I ask. "Why isn't she home? Why can't you still stay there", Aidan asks. "She doesn't want me home alone overnight", I say. "Of course then", Aidan says. "Thanks," I smile.
We pull into Aidan's driveway and I start to get butterflies in my stomach.
We were finally alone.
We've both either been with our friends or been busy, never getting to be alone. Now what?
"I'm cold", I make up an excuse.
"Want my jacket? We're about to go inside anyways", Aidan says. "It's fine", I say. Should I tell him? It's the perfect time.
It's not like I've been wanting too but I've had a crush on him for 6 years.
When was I gonna tell him?!
"Hey uh can I tell you something", I ask nervously and before he walks to the door. "Sure. What's up", Aidan asks worriedly because he could tell I was nervous. I pause for a couple seconds before taking a deep breath. "I'm gonna try to put this as simply as I can", I say calmly. "Okay.." Aidan says and furrows his eyebrows in confusion. I grab both of Aidans hands and look him in the eye. I brush my hair out of my face and stare into his sparkly hazel eyes. I hesitate before finally saying something. "I have feelings for you", I blurt out.
Aidan seemed shocked and surprised when I said that but I couldn't really tell. He still looked emotionless. He chuckles softly and actually smiled
"I know y/n."
