Twenty-Seven

Chapter 1

It was just like any other hot summer day in June. Twenty-seven year old Leah Marshall was moving into a new apartment, yet again for the third time this year. She grabbed the last box out of the jeep and took it into the apartment. Out of breath, she collapsed onto the cool leather couch. She could feel the sweat roll from her brow to her chin. Leah's short black hair was soaked in sweat. She looked at the clock, it read 2:30pm. She decided to get in the shower and go grab some dinner. Leah had been in and out of several complicated relationships in the past ten years. She had come to the conclusion that relationships were just not for her. Therefore, she had moved into her new apartment alone.
She grabbed some take-out Chinese and headed back to her apartment so that she could work on unpacking her stuff. When she pulled back into her parking spot at her apartment she noticed a girl maybe eight to ten years younger than her standing outside of her apartment two doors down. The girl was tall maybe 5'10, she had on a pair of risqué short shorts Leah couldn't help but to notice how her skin was perfect it looked as if it had been kissed by the sun. Her hair was long, dark brown, and wavy. Leah also noticed herself staring at the girl. As the girls eyes met hers she quickly looked away, parked, and went inside. She opened her dinner and ate it sitting in the floor while going through box after box of her annoyingly necessary belongings. She looked at the clock with heavy eyes, 12:14am. "Well time for bed", thought Leah as she stumbled up and into her bedroom. She flung herself onto her bed and lay awake for a few minutes thinking of her productive day. Leah couldn't help but remember the girl who had been out front a couple of doors down. For some reason Leah wanted to know more about the girl. Who was she? "She looked like she had jus stepped out of a recent issue of sports illustrated swimsuit edition." Thought Leah before her eyes rolled shut.
