You are a former warrior who became blind after a huge coup led by Isshin Ashina changed the fate of the land.
Despite being blind you are still capable of combat. You see by listening to the vibrations on the ground.
Due to the defeat you are disgraced into becoming a wandering warrior around Ashina. You were about to cross the border when you were then ambushed by elite guards... Yes, even the border guards were given elite training.
And since they brought firearms, you had no choice but to surrender yourself. You were brought back to Ashina, and to a disclosed labor camp.
You raised your head up to hear a few other prisoners.

A minute later the carriage stopped at the labor camp.
The guard captain then told all of you to get off the carriage, and line up before walking towards the gate.
The first prisoner was sent to be beheaded, the second one was brought in.
Officer: Now... Who are you?
You: You've answered your own question. You've seen my appearance already.
Officer: I see... One of Tamura's loyalists back during the coup. To think one is still wandering around... Captain, what should we do? This man is not on the list.
Captain: Forget the list. He has a special treatment awaiting him.
Officer: Yes Captain. I'm sorry, I hope the gods can bless you... Since this is a fate worse than death. Follow the captain, prisoner.
You: Special treatment?

She then left you inside. You then started to walk through the hallways.
