I stared on in amusement as my husband of two years, Harry Styles, began untying our recently purchased Christmas tree from the roof of our car. As he struggled with the ropes, I stood by and simply laughed. “How’s it goin’ over there?” I asked sarcastically. He stopped what he was doing and gave me a glare. “Oh shut up and just get Darcy in the house,” he said, trying not to let his smile shine through. Needless to say, he failed. I opened the back door and looked in to see our 1 year old daughter Darcy Marie Styles sleeping peacefully, her head drooped slightly to the right. I smiled. She was so beautiful. Darcy had inherited my dark green eyes but had, thankfully, gotten her father’s dark brown curly hair, dimples, and flawless smile. I swiftly began unbuckling her car seat and gently took her in my arms. She stirred slightly but then exhaled deeply and rested her head into the crook of my neck. I felt her breathing become steady and her fast heartbeat settle into its gentle rhythm once again. “Go put her to bed. I’ve got this,” Harry suddenly said, peeking over the roof of the car at me. “Are you sure babe?” I asked, walking around to the other side of the car to meet him. He smiled at me and then looked to our sleeping daughter in my arms. “I’m sure. I’ll have this tree up and ready to decorate by the time you come downstairs.” He placed a hand on the back of my head and gently pulled me close, kissing my forehead. I closed my eyes out of pure contentment. He then gently swooped some hair out of Darcy’s face so he could see her now fluttering eyelashes. He let out a sigh and smiled. “Head on inside. It’s freezing out here.” I leaned over and gave him a sweet kiss on the lips, being careful of Darcy. “Don’t be too long,” I said. And with that, I turned on my heels and walked slowly inside, careful not to jostle my dreaming daughter.

It took me about a half hour but I finally had gotten Darcy in bed. Normally it took me about ten minutes but she was just so peaceful and, just like her dad, she got extremely cranky if you woke her up before she was ready. I was still chilled to the bone from being outside for so long so I decided to take a hot shower to defrost myself. I walked into our master bedroom, grabbed some of Harry’s sweatpants and one of his sweatshirts, and headed for the shower. After another half hour, I was cozy, warm, dry, and ready to go spend quality time with my amazing husband. When I walked into the hallway, my ears were met by Christmas music wafting through the house. I smiled and felt my heart beat speed up. When I reached the top of the stairs, I could hear Harry’s beautiful voice singing along. He was hitting every note perfectly and managed to make the song sound even more magical and enchanting. I began making my steps slower and more drawn out so I could savor every note even more. When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I quietly tiptoed into the living room and found Harry looking cuter than ever. He was facing in my direction but he was so focused on putting the finishing touches on the tree, he didn’t even notice me standing there. He had a Santa hat on, his curls peeking out so cutely. His tongue was sticking out slightly from between his shut lips, his focus clear and unbreakable. I looked at him and was overcome but how the mutli-colored lights on the tree reflected in his light green eyes. He was clearly just finishing up the garland at the moment. When he got it seemingly right where he wanted it, he took a step back, crossed his arms, and smiled contentedly. “Looks good,” I suddenly spoke out. He turned his head slowly in my direction, blinked his eyes once, and gave me one of his famous sexy smirks. I sauntered over to him and, once I reached him, proceeded to wrap my arms around his slim waist. He put his hands on my cheeks and began kissing me. The kiss started out sweet and innocent but soon became heated and passionate. I opened my mouth, granting him entrance, allowing our tongues to do a kind of tango. No matter how many times we kissed, the spark I felt with him never wore off. He just had that kind of effect on me. After what felt like hours, we pulled away. He smiled down at me, showing his teeth slightly and his signature dimples. He brought his face close to mine once again and rested his forehead against mine lightly. I shut my eyes, breathing in his scent. I opened my eyes and then pulled away. He suddenly reached up, took off his Santa hat, and placed it on my still damp hair. “Now let’s get decorating,” he said in his raspy voice.

After about two hours, the tree was finally complete. It was filled with ornaments from both families and a bunch that we had bought as a married couple. Currently, Harry and I were sitting on our plush leather couch, cuddled together under a single blanket, drinking hot cocoa, and watching some cheesy Lifetime Christmas movie that was on. I honestly wasn’t even paying that much attention to it though. Around this time every year, I would always think about how amazing it was that I was married to Harry Styles from One Direction. Five years ago, I had been nothing but a simple fan. My room had been covered in posters of the popular boy band. Every day after school, I would host mini concerts in my room, hoping and praying that I would someday meet the band that had changed my life so much. And, as fate would have it, I got tickets to see them at one of their concerts for the Take Me Home tour. Not only that, but I was VIP. As soon as I met the band, and locked eyes with Harry, it was all over. We immediately felt a connection like no other. It’s a pretty cheesy love story, I know, but it’s what happened and I’m so grateful that it did. “What are you thinking about?” Harry suddenly asked me, breaking me away from my thoughts. “Just how lucky I am to have you in my life,” I said with a smile, looking up at him. He smiled down at me and placed his now empty mug of hot cocoa on the nearby coffee table. I followed suit. “Come here,” he said, gesturing for me to come even closer to him. I closed my arms firmly around his waist and snuggled deeply into his body, placing my ear against his chest, hearing his strong heartbeat. He put an arm around my shoulders and put the other on my hair, beginning to play with it, causing me to shiver. I loved when he did that. “I’m the one who should be grateful in this relationship. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. You’ve made me the man I am today which is a better version of myself than I or anyone else ever thought I could be. I love you so much,” he said. I looked up at him, feeling tears starting to form in the corners of my eyes. “I love you too,” I whispered, my voice filled with nothing but love. I moved my face closer to his once again and felt fireworks as our lips connected for a long and deep kiss. After we pulled away, he smiled one last time at me and then went back to watching the movie. I laid my cheek back on his chest and did the same. It wasn’t long before I heard his heartbeat begin to slow down and become more steady and his breathing even out. Pretty soon, Harry’s familiar snores that I had come to know and love started up. I looked up to see his head resting on the back of the couch, his eyes shut lightly, his lips parted slightly, with his eyelashes fluttering. I smiled contently, laid back down, closed my eyes, and soon gave in to the comforts of sleep on this perfect December night.
