"So," Tandy began,"Mr.Karter, how did you meet miss Andrea Rogue?" Ashley smiled, "I still can't believe I'm doing an article about my ex-wife." "I'm doing the article Mr.Karter. and it's about both of you." Tandy teased. "Uh, well, we met two years ago, at a gala my sister hosted. It was in celebration of the success of her growing company under one of my industries.
"So we were at the gala and I hadn't known anything about Andrea. I mean, I wasn't into fashion like Riley was. I was in one of her gallery halls admiring the art on the walls, when I heard a voice at my side, 'René magritte, lovers, 1928. One of his best works, I might add. Inspired some of my work.' I looked and there she was, in a stunning white jumpsuit. Though it was a bit flashy. But she is a fashion icon so who am I to judge.
"I was stunned about how much she knew about René magritte, it's what started the conversation. We continued to chat and three months later we got into an intimate relationship and started dating."
"Ok, how would you describe your relationship and former marriage with Andrea Rogue?
"Andrea was a kind person. Atleast in my eyes. She was genuine. I loved her. We didn't get into serious fights. We barely argued. I was pretty sure she loved me back."
"Pretty sure you say, Mr.Karter?" Tandy asked trying to get a more solid answer.
"Our relationship was great at the time. And so was our marriage. So yes. But Andrea never wanted to have kids. Every time I brought it up, we'd either argue over it or she'd change the subject completely."
"Hm. Ok, so, do you know why Andrea didn't want to have kids?" Ashley smiled again, "you know, for someone who hasn't written before, let alone given an interview, you sure as hell know what you're doing." "Well, I am a writer. Just not by profession. But I am now. Enough about me, we're here about you." "Uh. Yeah." Ashley said dissappointed, "can you repeat your "-I asked if you know why Andrea didn't want to have kids?" Tandy asked interrupting him.
"At the time no. When she filed for a divorce a month ago it became clear what her intentions were and why she didnt wanna have kids. This is not my first time being interviewed by a writer for the Revlonń magazine.
"Yes, I had a very good financial status before two years ago, but then, my other industry started booming, I became apart of the top ten richest people in America. Revlonń interviewed me two weeks after that happened and Andrea obviously saw the article. She saw opportunity.
"She was obviously targeting me. So that meeting in Riley's gallery wasn't by accident. It was planned. Andrea wanted my status. My money at most. That's why she didn't want kids, she definitely wasn't looking longterm."
"Andrea had her own money, why was she after yours?"
"I don't know. I saw it this way, she wasn't really at her her top, marrying me would get her more famous, in a way I still don't understand. The money was just another advantage. So it was a bit of a win-win for her." "Okay, I think we have enough but one last question. After the divorce, where does that leave you, your business, and your status?"
Ashley paused for a while to think about it. He was amazed at how good Tandy is at this even though she had never written for Revlonń. He had the urge to ask her more about her writing profession. More about her in general. But he had to answer her question first.
"Where it leaves my status? Hasn't changed. Where it leaves my business? Still making money." Ashley stood up, "And where ot leaves me?" He sat next to Tandy and put his arm around her. They were so close, Tandy could feel his breath, "single. It saves me single."
Tandy had a little chill go up her spine. Is Ashley trying to hit on me? She asked herself. Tandy stood up and gave him a small smile to avoid awkwardness, "Thank you for coming coming Mr.Karter. I'll call you when I'm done with the Article."
Ashley stood up and faced her. Just as lose as before. Tandy ft a little nervous and looked down. Ashley's fingers rested under Tandy's jawline as he lifted her head so she could face him. Then he smiled, "Are you shy Tandy?" He asked removing his hand from her face, "What happened to the confident lady that just interviewed me?" Ashley teased.
Tandy kept her silence. She couldn't speak this close to him and she didn't know why. Ashley pulled his wallet out of his pocket, removing a business card, handing it to her, "I'll see you soon Tandy." He said, beginning to leave the room. "O-Okk Mr.Karter." Tandy stutterd shyly. "Please. Call me Ashley." He smiled, leaving the office.
