Chapter 11: Feelings pt.2

Last night was pretty crazy after the kiss we talked about what was going to happen next. To Be honest I was scared as hell, I didn't know what was going to happen or how this whole thing would work. We sat down and talked to my Dad but before we could tell them what was going on they had some news for us.

"Well we have some exciting news and we couldn't wait any longer to tell you" my father said with the biggest smile on his face. Christina reached her hand out showing me the nice size rock she has on her ring finger.

"OMG!!! You proposed" I said surprised and excited

"Yes we wanted to tell you sooner but with everything that's going on we didn't want to add to that" my father said still smiling wider then ever. I walk towards them and wrap them in a tight hug "I'm so happy for you guys" I said 

"I'm so glad you said that I want you and Charlie to be my best men" my father said I let him go and look at him so happy. "I would love to be you're best man let me just ask Charlie if he would like to" I said

"No need to I already asked him he said he would love to" he said. I just looked at him confused "When did you ask him?" I asked

"Last night while you were still out by the river, Didn't you say you'd be my best man?" he asked Charlie who is standing in the doorway behind me. I turn around to look at him in a bath towel, he had just gotten out of the shower.

"Wait you can see him?" I asked my dad

"Yeah" my father and Christina said

I just look at them then back at Charlie at this point I'm so fucking confused "How is that possible I'm not even near him" I said with a shocked and confused look on my face.

"I don't know, last night as I was walking back up to the cabin they shouted out to me at first I didn't know they were talking to me until they said my name" he said walking towards the kitchen

"Trust me I was just as shocked as you were, I think we all were" Charlie said

"Yeah it completely shocked me I never expected that to happen" my father said "At first I thought it was you then he got closer and I realized it wasn't" he said

I wasn't sure what this meant, Is it a bad thing? What's going to happen now? Is this the end? so many questions and emotions were running through my mind. I just fell onto the couch trying to process what was happening. Not only is my father getting married but now the one guy I thought I had a real connection with no longer needs me. I drop my head in my hands unsure of what was to come next.

"What's wrong aren't you happy? Isn't this a good thing?" Christina asked

I look up at her, tears falling down my face "Yeah Congratulations I'm so happy for you guys" I said getting up and walking back into my room.

"What's wrong with him?" Charlie asked

"I don't know let me go talk to him" my Father said

"No I'll talk him" Charlie said as he walked towards my room knocking on my door.

"Hey what's wrong with you?" He asked

I just ignore him sitting by the window staring outside, tears still streaming slowly down my face. He walks over to me placing his hand on my shoulder "Alex what's wrong?" he said very concerned.

I look up at him placing my hand over his holding it tight. "What is the matter?" Charlie continued to ask.

I stand up, wrapping my arms around him burring my head into his shoulders "I don't want things to change I just want it to go back to the way things were" I said

Charlie just wraps his arms around me holding me tight "What are you talking about?" he asked

"You, This, Everything I just don't want this to change I don't want you to not need me anymore" soon as I said that I immediately stopped talking.

He started to chuckle "Alex look at me" he says

I look at him confused as to how he finds this funny, as he grabs ahold of my face he pulls me closer to him to the point where we are touching foreheads.

"Nothing is going to change I promise you" he says, I pull away and look at him.

"How do you know this, Everything is already changing you're changing I thought I had a real connection with you....but now its all...changing" I said falling down onto my bed.

Charlie came and sat down next to me placing his hand on my leg. "Alex I promise you everything will be ok I'm not going anywhere I don't plan on going anywhere" he said. I look at him in the eyes searching for the truth in his eyes and at this point I found it he is telling the truth. I reach over and place my arms around him pulling him into a tight hug nuzzling into the crook of his neck.

"This is my home now, This is my life now and in all honesty I wouldn't change a single thing" Charlie said pulling me closer to him kissing my shoulder. I hold onto the back of his shirt gripping it tight not wanting to let him go but as soon as I do so he pulls away kissing me on my forehead. I look up at him reaching up and placing my hand on his cheek. I lean over and place a small kiss on his lips, which slowly turned into a passionate kiss.

Charlie pulls away slowly "Alex slow down, wait I don't think this is a good idea" he said

I knew then and there it was to good to be true, to actually think I had a shot at being happy, to think I finally found someone I could be with and have a connection with.

"You're right" I said hanging my head as I walk away an out to the porch.

"Alex wait that's not what...." He tried to get my attention following behind me.

"Hey kid wait" he said I immediately turned around to face him.

"See I knew it was going to be like this" I said folding my arms turning back around and leaning against the banister. Charlie comes over to me and places his hand on my shoulder.

"What is the matter with you?" he asked "You're really starting to confuse the hell out of me kid" he said as I shook his hand off my shoulder.

"Nothing just forget it, I'm going for a walk" I said leaving the porch

"Alex!!" he said running up to me grabbing my arm.

"What do you want from me!" I said pulling my arm out of his grasp.

"I want to know what has gotten into you, why the sudden mood change?" he asked "Was it something I said or did please talk to me" he said

"The fact that you call me kid still shows that you don't take any of this seriously, You still think I'm just some dumb kid" I said walking towards the Lake trails.

I turn around one last time walking backwards "Look Charlie I like you I think I might actually love you but I know now that it was all just some stupid idea, you don't need to worry about anything we're all good" I said giving a faint fake smile turning back around towards the trails.

Charlie watches as I walk into the trails and disappear from his sight. He turned back towards the cabin and sits on the porch. "What did I do?" he said to himself "What the hell did I do" he said again this time falling back into the chair placing his arms over his face.

I continue to walk through the trails till I reach the lake, I head towards the dock with the pavilion that's in the middle of the lake and lean against the railings. I can't help but think about that kiss and how I wish it would have lasted longer, how I wanted more to happen.

"AGH!!!!" I yelled out, out of anger and confusion "Why, Why does this have to happen, Why cant for just once something go right" I said out loud as I sit down on the bench and just stare out onto the Lake.
