She's a lovely young creature.
I think she's seeking adventure.
I think she's ready to see that
the world isn't so sweet or so tender.
I won't break her, just bend her.
“Does anyone know what day today is?” Mr. Douglas asked, pushing his rather large spectacles up the bridge of his nose, gazing out to the sea of students gathered together among the bleachers in the gym.
“We’re all going to die!!!!!!” an immature student yelled from somewhere in the crowd causing a howl of laughter to erupt over the students.
“Hush Hush!-Today is November 14th, the day as we all call, The Rapture. You all may remember from the gathering last year, and countless years before. I’m sure you are all aware of the rules, but it is law that I must go over them: 1.) No going outside after 10 p.m. 2.) Lock your doors and windows, even though they cannot enter your house. 3.) Wear Crosses and don’t forget to fill up your holy water. Remember they can only take those who aren’t over a threshold. I know some..students… want to purposely place themselves in harms way, but please children, refrain.” the thin haired man once again pushed his glasses back up his nose, eyeing the crowd and continuing on about the dangers of them. So, I’m sure your probably wondering what The Rapture is exactly, 18 years ago, an explorer was digging in a grave site in Romania, and he stumbled through the clay rock and landed in a mass tomb filled with boxes, which so happened to be coffins, I’m sure he didn’t know any better, but right away he had the coffins taken out and opened. The minute the decayed bodies heard a human heartbeat, it’s like they were brought back from their slumber, and since that day, they spread over the world like a plague, but soon enough the government had gotten things under control, and they arranged an agreement, Once every year in the 10th hour on the 14th of November could Vampires take humans freely. But only humans who were outside of a residential house. As you know vampires couldn’t enter a house without being invited in. Not many people believed the agreement would work, and that everyone would stay inside, but more and more people each year wandered outside and were taken and never brought back. Some people even camped outside and waited to be taken. Desperate for immortality I’m guessing.
“I don’t see what the big fuss is. We’ve been alive for 18 years and have yet to see one Vampire.” my best friend Anna huffed turning to me waiting for my reply. We’ve been best friends since I was able to walk. I guess you could blame it on being neighbors since birth, or the fact that no one can handle me quite like she can.
“That’s because our parents barricade us inside our houses.” I frowned remembering 5 years ago when my sister had gotten into a heated argument with my mother and stormed out of the house, long story short. She didn’t come back.
“Well! My mom is on call tonight, so I’ll most likely be the only one home, she won’t let me go to your house, but maybe you can come to mine?” she asked playing with her long hair. Anna was a very attractive girl, blonde hair, grey eyes, short and cute. I on the other hand, didn’t get much luck. I have long, curly, reddish brown hair with bright green eyes, olive skin, and I was leggy, and anything but coordinated.
“I doubt she’d let me leave. She always has to have an eye on me. But I’ll still ask.” I laughed as her eyes twinkled with excitement. I couldn’t stand to be negative around this girl.
