As Jade walks down the hall, she can hear each student in passing talking about Sirius Black.

"I heard he is the reason Harry's parents are dead."

"I heard that he's planning on killing Harry!"

"I heard that he's a serial killer!" Jade rolls her eyes at that last one. She's never met Sirius, but she knows a lot about him. From eavesdropping on her father's "secret meetings," she presumes he was set up. But by who?

Suddenly, her thoughts are interrupted by Cora, who is standing in front of her with a wide grin.

"So....." She wiggles her eyebrows.

"So.....?" Jade stares at her in confusion.

"You're a Slytherin! That's so cool!"

Jade rolls her eyes as she walks next to her new friend. "Is it though?"

"Totally! That means you're conniving." Cora winks.

"It means that people will suspect even more that I'm a death eater." Jade lowers her voice as she looks around her.

"Well are you?"

"No!" Jade lies. "I would never support Him. But people already assume I do because of my last name."

"Well I don't. Trust me, I doubt anyone thinks that." And just as she says that, Cora notices the death glares Jade is getting from some younger Gryffindors. "I stand corrected."

"It's fine." Jade starts to walk faster to class, avoiding any glares she's getting. "It doesn't matter anyways."

"Well at least you have me, right?" Cora nudges her, winking furiously, which causes Jade to crack a smile.

"Yeah." Jade grins. "At least I have you."

As Jade finally arrives to her class "Care for Magical Creatures," she is stopped by a burly man. He's scraggly, with a matted beard, but has the kindest eyes.

"Why hello there, welcome!"

Jade stays silent as Cora leans in to whisper "that's Hagrid. He's the new teacher this year." Jade replies to Hagrid with a simple wave and walks over to the side where a clump of students are. As she scans her class, she realizes who is approaching.

"Harry Potter...." She mumbles, but not quiet enough for Cora to miss.

"Oh yeah, you haven't met him yet, have you?" Cora asks, and Jade simply shakes her head. "He's really sweet. He's kind of quiet though with people that aren't part of the Golden Trio."

Jade bites her lip as she watches the boy with his two friends, a gingered-boy and girl her age. She realizes she's studying them too hard when Cora speaks up. "You should go say hi!"

Jade chuckles nervously, instantly moving her eyes away from them. "Oh god no." She wanted to but it was too dangerous. Not for her. For them.

"I've got a real treat fer ya today!" Hagrid announces to the students. "A great lesson. So follow me!" The students follow him to a part of the forest with the least amount of trees. "Alrigh' you lot. Less chatterin' an' form a line over there. An' open yer books ta page forty-nine."

"Exactly how do we do that," a boy spits out. Jade turns her head and realizes it's Draco. Jade grits her teeth, which to her surprise, Cora notices.

"Are you okay?"

"What an arrogant ass."

"Oh, Draco? Yeah just ignore him. He's a dick." Cora rolls her eyes as she starts to stroke the spine of her book. Suddenly, a young boy about Jade's age starts screaming as his book tries to attack him. "Neville!" Cora runs over to him, leaving Jade on her own. Jade sets her bag down as she tries to stroke the spine of her book,

"I think they're funny," a member of the Golden Trio speaks.

"Oh yeah, terribly funny. Really witty." Draco spats. "God, this place has gone to the dogs. Wait until my father hears that Dumbledore's got this oaf teaching classes." That gets a laugh out of his goon friends.

"Shut up Malfoy." Harry steps up to him.

"Ooooooh," Draco and his friends laugh back. He hands his bag to his friend before slowly stepping up to Harry. Jade watches, biting her tongue. Draco cowares back as he points up at the sky. "Dementor! Dementor!" Harry whips his head around as Draco and his friends start cackling. Harry turns around as his friends grab onto him, guiding him away from them. Breaking the awkward silence, Hagrid appears, drum rolling. "Isn' he beau'iful. Say hello ta Buckbeak." The students watch in awe as the Hippogriff stands in front of them.

"Hagrid?" The ginger boy speaks. "Exactly what is that?" Jade starts to lose focus until she hears Hagrid say, "well done Harry!" She watches in awe as Harry somehow tames Buckbeak, and even ends up riding her. The students watch as in the distance, Harry is flying all around Hogwarts. The class cheers as he lands back on the ground.

Suddenly, Draco pushes his way through the crowd. "Yeah, not dangerous at all are you, you great ugly brute!" He spits out as he struts towards the Hippogriff.

"Malfoy-" Hagrid lowers his voice in concern. Buckbeak gets visibly upset, jumping up, and scratching Draco, causing him to rip his robes and fall backwards. Hagrid steps in front of him, trying to calm the Hippogriff down.

"Ah! It's killed me! It's killed me!" Draco whines. Hagrid picks the boy up, telling the class it's dismissed, as Draco moans in pain. "You're gonna regret this! You and your bloody chicken!"

As the class starts to disperse, Jade stays behind to check on Buckbeak. She slowly walks over to him, hesitantly putting her hand up to let Buckbeak sniff her. Somehow, she does, and let's Jade calmly pet her. Buckbeak walks closer, resting her head on Jade's shoulder.

"Oh Buckbeak...." Jade sighs. "I'm so sorry." A crunch of leaves is heard only a few feet behind her, causing her to whip her head around.

"Sorry, sorry. Didn't mean to scare you." It's Harry. His eyes are wide and his hands are up, showing he's not threatening. Jade just stares at him, not saying anything, and turns back around to Buckbeak.

Harry awkwardly coughs. "I just wanted to check on her. Is she okay?"

"Yeah." Jade sighs. "She's okay."

Harry walks towards her and Buckbeak. "Hey, you're Jade right? The third year transfer?" Jade nods, still not speaking. "You're in my Defense Against The Dark Arts Class too. It's nice to meet you," he sticks his hand out, waiting for her to accept his handshake. And to his surprise, she does.

"Sorry, what was your name again?" She asks, sarcastically.

Harry chuckles, "I take it with the last name Loxias, you're not too popular are you."

Jade clutches her heart. "Ooh ouch. You're breaking my heart, Harry."

Harry is now laughing, and so is Jade. "Hey, you wanna walk back to the school together?"

Jade smiles. "Yeah. I'd love that."
