I looked outside the window, at nakita ko ang pamilyar na kapaligiran. After many years, I'm finally back. But I don't know if I can say that I'm 'home'.
I looked at the other passengers I'm with and they're wearing excited faces, although some are neutral, some are sad. Hindi ko lang alam kung alin ako roon.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have just landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Philippine Pacific Air welcomes you to Manila. On behalf of your Flight Deck Crew headed by Captain Juarez with First Officer Monsanto and the rest of the team, we thank you for choosing Philippine Pacific, your airline of choice," I listened to the landing announcement and watched other passengers and their faces that show excitement.
I wish I can feel the same, but I honestly didn't know what to feel.
The aircraft door opened and as I watched others prepare their bags and prepare to stand up and get out of this plane, I just stayed seated. Mayroon naming ibang katulad ko na naka steady lang.
Buti pa sila, steady.
I was watching other passengers from the far front go out when my phone rang.
"Have you arrived na?" Alliana, my friend, asked me the moment I answered my phone.
"Do you think I'll be able to answer you kung nasa himpapawid pa kami?" I let out a small laugh.
I heard another voice. "Gaga ka talaga! Ano ba!" I chuckled quietly since I'm sure it's Catherine.
"We missed you too much, Suzy! Dalian mo na rito!" Rinig ko ang boses ni Cath.
"I missed you, too. I'll call you later kapag nasa loob na ako ng airport." I told them. As the remaining passengers started to stand up, I did the same too. I got my duffel bag out of the cabin and walked towards the exit.
I politely smiled at the flight attendants before going out. Hagdanan lang iyong naroon so I had to walk downstairs towards a bus.
When I got in, almost all of them were talking to someone on their phones.
Pati iyong katabi kong babae, may kausap. I guess it's her boyfriend.
I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but she's so loud. Maybe she's just that excited, huh?
"Yeah, let's just meet there, okay? Yeah! I love you, too! See you!"
I hope all.
May naalala tuloy ako. And what I remembered made me smile, but it made me more scared, too.
We were finally at the arrival area and we all went to the baggage to get our bags. I only had a duffel bag and a luggage so it wasn't really heavy.
When I got my luggage I walked towards the comfort room. Aayusin ko muna ang hitsura ko bago ko kitain sina Alliana.
I looked at my reflection. With the long, brown, wavy hair; doe-shaped, deep brown eyes; plump lips; pointed nose, may mga nag aakalang foreigner talaga ako. But I'm not.
I tied my hair up in a bun, although messy, and grabbed my luggage and went out the comfort room. I got my phone out of my purse and called my friend.
"Where are you?" I asked them.
"Nasa Wendy's. May gusto ka?" Sabi ni Alya.
"Bukod sa kanya, wala," I chuckled at my corny joke. "Kidding. I want a burger, please." Sabi ko.
"Okie-dokie! Dalian mo na here!" Sabi niya.
"Yeah, I'm already walking." Sabi ko.
When I got out, there was a crowd of people, some waiting, some was hugging each other, almost all of them seemed happy or excited.
I looked around. I'm finally back.
