Sleep my child

I have to leave soon

Sleep peaceful

Dream of the moon

I pat your tiny head

As you lay in your little bed

Painful weeps arrive at sun

For now just sleep and dream of none

The music box has broken

And these words are last spoken

Depressed thoughts

Of loose ends not tied

Don't think of them

Or tears you've cried

When you awake be happy

And smile at the sun

You've got growing up to do

You're life's just begun

I now sing to your unaware ears

The lullaby I sang to you all these years

Though this last song renders me in tears

I now must confront my biggest fears

Leaving you

Deceiving you

"Sleep well" I sing in soft song

I know you'll grow up to be strong

Though I might regret it until I die

I sing you our last silent lullaby

I think you know the main point of what this poem is about, but just in case not, I'll give you a vague description.

It's a mother saying goodbye to her sleeping child in the dead of night (for unknown reasons), the child is unaware of any of this happening, and continues to sleep...
