(a/n- I know this chapter is short, but I needed it to turn out like this because the chapter needs to end as a cliffhanger. 😈)
"so dear, how did you get back?" my father asked me. this is a question that I had been praying I would hear my father ask while I was gone, but ever since I got back I've been dreading discussing this subject.
I didn't know how to say it without her finding out about lijah, which was the complete opposite of what I want to do right now. lijah said that he would come around when he thought the time was right, and I respected his decision and wasn't going to betray him like that.
"while I was there, I had an anxiety attack." I started, contemplating wether or not I should lie or tell the truth. my parents nodded their heads, continuing for me to go on, but before I could, I remembered something.
"I have to take my medecine. I'll be right back." I said, getting up and walking into the kitchen and grabbing my medicine bottle from the cabninet. I took the two white tablets with a glass of water before walking back out into the main living room.
"okay. so while so while I was there, I had an anxiety attack. I didn't have my medecine and there was a guy there; he looked really uncomfortable and he uh- he wasn't doing anything. he must've saw me because he took me to the hospital and then when we we left, we went back to the building and nobody was there, so we just assumed that the police had already gotten them, and then he brought me back home." I said to them, not lying about the whole thing but not telling the complete truth either.
I sat there waiting for them to respond as I saw the two exchange quick glances to eachother, worry clear in their faces.
"uhh.. hello?" I said, waving my hands in the air
"honey, did you say that you.. you thought the police took them?" my mother asked me, shifting uncomfortably in her seat.
"yeah...?" I said, not understanding what she was getting at.
"kendall," my dad started, before looking at my mother, as if asking for approval. in response, she just nodded her head, closing her eyes and tightening her grip on his hand.
"yes.." I said, signaling for him to continue what he was saying.
"kendall... the police never found the men that you are talking about." he told me.
