It was the day of the performance. I couldn't stop shaking. Despite the many times we'd practiced, the many times I'd been on stage singing, this was the most nerve-racking one of them all. I couldn't think─couldn't understand just where I was.
As the piano spilled through the stage and its audience in clear, liquefied strings of melody of its tranquil introduction, I shut my eyes, solely focusing on the music and awaiting for you to slip into the verse.
Almost like the softest of blankets, your voice folded around me─and my thumping heartbeat slowed down.
And then suddenly, it was my turn.
You smiled at me, and I smiled beneath my hood in return. Taking a deep intake of air, I began to sing.
