Mike led us through town, and the sun was blaring in the sky as we made it to the forest. I recognised the place; I didn't remember why but the tiny path that we were walking across felt familiar and it felt comforting to be back in this place after all this time. Then I felt myself tearing up because memories came flooding back to me, we were in the Barrens and this was the place that we hung out in all the time over the summer. There were so many memories of this place, happy memories because this was where we had come to feel safe, this was where we messed around as kids and forgot about the worries of Pennywise and school and our parents. In this part of town, we were just kids and the feeling of that made me more emotional than usual.

Suddenly I flinched when a hand touched my shoulder, it quickly retracted itself when he realised that he had scared me but I sent him a small smile when I realised that it was just Bill. "Are you okay?"

I quickly wiped my eyes as he fell into step next to me, the path was quite narrow but we managed to fit on it together as the others walked ahead of us. "Yeah, no, I'm good, great, I'm fine."

"I know you're not fine, and that's okay, this is a lot to take in."

"I'm okay, Bill, I promise." I stuttered, trying to ignore the butterflies in my stomach because of how close we were standing to each other. "I just remembered some of the things we used to do here and it made me emotional."

"Are you sure that it's just the Barrens that's making you emotional?" He raised an eyebrow and I stopped walking, because I didn't want the others to hear this conversation that had quickly turned deeper than I expected. "I just mean, everyone's noticed the tension between you and Eddie, and it's normal not to be completely happy in your marriage-"

"It may be normal but it's not right. I bet your marriage is perfect, isn't it?"

Bill hesitated. "Actually, no. I think I got married because I thought it was the natural thing to do, and she's great, beautiful and smart and talented but she isn't the one, you know? I married her because I wanted to settle down but she's not the one."

"How do you know if someone's the one?" I asked, my voice quiet as I stared deeply into Bill's bright blue eyes.

"You never get bored of them. You love them more than anything else in the world, and you know that they love you too because you trust them. You'd do anything for them and they'd do anything for you. They would cherish you, protect you and they'd keep you safe, forever." His hand reached up to tuck a strand of my hair behind my ear as we watched each other carefully. "Is Eddie the one?"

Quickly I cleared my throat and looked away from him, stepping back just to make sure that we were at a respectable distance from each other. "I thought he was. But now I'm not sure."

"What happened?"

"We fight a lot, about everything and I know that he's cheating on me, he has been for a while. But I stayed with him because I wanted the perfect life, to pretend that we were happy and we had the kids because I thought it would fix everything. All I've done is make things worse for them, living in a broken home which could have been avoided."
