He's Definitely Not Tony Hawk

As I was walking out to my car, I decided that I needed to change my outfit for the third time. I called Jade, who was busy talking about Zayn's eyes and how many times they kissed each other goodbye. Like a good friend, I replied to her with many uses of  "oh my gosh!" and "awe!" when in reality I'm freaking out about my own possibility at a love life. Sometimes I feel like she only calls me when she has problems. Oh well, it's bad enough that I had to look up edgy outfit ideas, which didn't look like me at all. I wish that I knew what to wear to a skateboarding competition. I finally decide on my favorite shirt that says, "Hi, You'll Do." that I got from Hollister a few years ago. Witty and funny; Harry should definitely like it. When I paired it with some jean shorts and Nike's, I look like I definitely don't belong at a skateboarding competition. Oh well.

I look at my phone and see that I have a few texts, but I see one from Harry.

Harry S: Hey Veronica, you still coming?

V: Maybe.

Harry S:  :(

V: *kissy emoji*

Harry S: I'll be in the back section of the skate park :)

I smile down at my phone and feel a sense of excitement. It's been so long since a guy has been interested in me, I've missed it. Now all I have to worry about is saying something stupid. Oh jeez, that's going to be difficult for the queen of word vomit when it comes to talking to men. My knees were shaking now, something that only happens whenever I'm around a guy I like.

I arrive at Keller Skate Park, and walk to the back section where Harry said he would be. I look around for the familiar beanie and head-of-curls I had grown so fond of. My phone vibrates and I notice a message from Harry.

Harry S: You look like an ant from up here.

I looked up at the half-pipe and saw Harry waving at me, fully equipped with knee pads, elbow pads, and, thank gosh, a helmet.

"And now, from across the pond, Harry Styles!" an announcer said over the loud speaker and I yelled and wooed for him.

He did a lot of really cool flips and tricks, and then just as he was finishing up, he fell (classic Harry) and landed right on his ankle. I'm pretty sure we all knew he broke it right then and there. Harry grabbed his leg and just put his head down, obviously trying not to cry in pain. I pushed my way through the crowd of spectators and jumped onto the half-pipe, even though there were security guards yelling at me.

"Oh my god, Harry! Are you okay?" I said, crouching down and putting my arm around his shoulder.

"Well, there goes my chances of becoming the next fucking Tony Hawk," he laughs, trying to make a bad situation better.

"Sir, the ambulance is ready if you want to go to the hospital. I strongly advise going to the emergency room," a security guard said, "and Miss, you need to get off the half-pipe or we will have to arrest you."

I nodded and slowly got off the half-pipe, waiting for Harry to get up and be taken to the hospital.

"Wait, Veronica! Can you drive me so I don't have to worry about an ambulance bill?" Harry yelled. I nodded once again and went to get my car as they brought him in and sat him in the back seat.

"This really fucking hurts," Harry said after sitting quietly for 5 minutes. I let out a laugh, even though I don't think he was trying to be funny. "You're laughing at my pain?" he said with a scowl on his face.

"Harry, it's the first thing you've said this entire car ride, of course I'm going to laugh. You're so clumsy, you know?"

"Yes, I think I understand that Veronica," he laughs loudly, followed by a silent "fucking hell."

We arrive at the hospital and a few workers come and help him out of the car. We wait for hours in the waiting room and finally we get in for him to get x-rays. The doctor comes in, and Harry wakes up from the small nap he took that was pain-killer induced.

"Well, Mr. Styles, it's a clean break. You'll be able to skate again in no time," the doctor says with a smile, "however, you need to stay on crutches for at least two months."

"Thanks man," Harry says with a huge smile on his face. The doctor leaves a list of care instructions, as well as a prescription for pain killers.

"Veronica, thanks for spending the past 6 hours with me," Harry laughs as he gets his crutches and begins to walk.

"Harry, have you told your parents?"

"No, it's gonna be a surprise. I'm gonna show up and be like 'Hey guys, broke my ankle today. I'm tired. Night.' Then just go to bed."

"Harry, call your mom."

"Okay fine," he takes out his phone and does as I say. "Mom, I'm fine! No, you don't need to come here. Mom...mom...mo-Okay fine, you can come get me," he hangs up and sighs loudly.

Ten minutes later, Harry's mom comes running into the room and hugs him while crying.

"My poor baby! Oh, let me see it!" she says, grabbing his foot.

"Mom, it's in a cast. You can't see it," Harry sighs.

"I don't care, my poor baby b-who is this?" she says, looking at me.

"Oh, this is Veronica," Harry laughs. "Veronica, this is my mother, Anne."

"Oh, so you're the girl who stole my baby's heart. You're so gorgeous. I mean, Harry told me how beautiful you are, but honestly I didn't think you would be th-" she is suddenly interrupted.

"Mom, that's enough. Can I say goodbye?" she nods and then leaves the room, leaving us alone.

"Sorry about that," he apologizes.

"Harry, she's sweet. It's fine."

"I like you, Veronica. I really do. Can we go on a real date soon? This time one that doesn't end with a trip to the ER."

"Of course, Harry," I say, walking over to him. I give him a kiss and smile at him as I walk away.

"I'll text you," he says before I leave.

"Be careful in the meantime you clutz," I say walking out of the room.
