I got off my shift on Friday at five o'clock in the afternoon. I planned on going out with my friends for pizza and a movie, and I was super excited. It was the first time I had actually been able to go out with my friends all summer. As I drove home, I turned up the radio so loud, and sang along to every single word in 'Girls' by The 1975. Suddenly, my phone began to ring. I looked to see who it was, since I was at a stop light. It was my friend Jade, probably calling to ask if I could invite Zayn, who she liked, and by like, I mean practically head-over-heels in love with him. I introduced them last year at my Christmas party, and the first thing she said to me when he walked away was how much she loved the way he spoke. He smiled with his words, and laughed at her jokes. She loved that. Zayn mostly kept to himself and usually never dated. None of us were really sure as to why he did, but we never asked.
When I got home, I changed out of my work outfit, and into a powder blue button up tank top and white capri pants. I looked in the mirror, and decided that I liked my outfit. Weird...it usually takes about ten tries to get something that looks decent. I shook my hair out of the pony tail it had been in all day and straightened out the creases. Then, I did my makeup. I did a simple nude eye shadow, put some peach blush on, grabbed my purse, and went off to meet Jade, who was standing in my front yard.
Jade always felt the need to impress, despite the fact that she was drop dead model gorgeous. She knew that Zayn was coming tonight, so she felt the need to show off her...*ahem* tatas a bit more than usual. I'm okay with the occasional cleavage, but Jade was just really...out there tonight. She had a black tank top on, a black leather jacket, and black jeans. When we went out, Jade always wore black from head to toe. She never wore that sort of outfit at school, however. Usually Jade had a dress or skirt of some type on. One night, I asked her why she dressed so different during the weekends and she said it was because it was her alter-ego J. I've had to call her J when talking to her ever since.
"What in the world are you wearing?" she asked me, clearly upset with my outfit choices.
"What? It's comfy," I said, smoothing down the buttons on my shirt.
"I knew you would do this," she said. "We still have an hour before we need to get there, come on." She took my hand and ran upstairs with a bag.
"J, we are just going to the movies!" I yelled as she began brushing on a black eyeshadow.
"Shut up, you'll look hot." I laughed as she added various bronzers and blushes before showing me what I looked like. I looked great. It's nice to have a friend who knows about makeup. "Change into this," she said, throwing a black shirt at me. "Also, change into light colored blue jean, and your black Jeffrey Campbell's. Meet me downstairs in ten mintues," she smiled and walked out of my room. I walked downstairs and she nearly gasped. "Wow! You do look hot!"
"Is Zayn going?" Jade asked me in the car on the way to the movies.
"J, I've told you before. Yes, Zayn in coming."
"Oh god! He's so hot, Vee, what if I say something stupid?"
"Then you laugh it off. He likes a girl with a nice laugh. Just please don't over do it."
"Okay, does this sound cute?" she asked and started giggling loudly.
"Just use your normal laugh, and do a breath check with me about every 15 minutes. He has a problem with bad breath. Like, a major problem. The boy brushes his teeth about four times a day." I laughed, thinking about the time I found Zayn brushing his teeth at work after eating a pretzel in the break room.
