Jamie's POV
My rented car broke down and I'm still miles away from Louisiana. Every distant siren I hear makes my legs pick up speed. I see two police cars in the distance up ahead and I immediately panic. Not even second thinking I run into the woods next to me getting far away from the road but sticking to my path. I hear voices up ahead to see the police officers talking amongst each other.
"Looks like their taking a coffee and doughnut break..." I whisper.
"Do you think we will be able to catch that runaway prisoner?" The dark-skinned officer asks.
I squint my eyes through the leaves of the forest to see that they are ISP. I'm screwed. They obviously would be guarding all the way out here so I don't escape the state.
I quietly creep slowly but of course, my bad luck, a branch cracked under my shoe.
"What was that?" The other officer said.
"Maybe it was an animal," The dark-skinned officer waves it off.
"No. It just stopped..." The second officer said drawing his pistol. "Who's out there?" He calls out.
I quietly curse under my breath knowing I can't escape now. I slowly get up putting on a lost person face on my features. "I'm sorry I'm just lost..." I spoke worriedly.
"Who are you?" The second officer asked.
"My name is Michael Johnson I was on my way to Louisiana to meet my family but my car broke down, several miles down the road," I point where I came from.
"You look familiar. Do I know you from somewhere?" The dark-skinned officer asks.
"No. I don't think so..." I trail off not letting my panic overcome me.
"Hm. Alright, do you need help with your car?" The dark-skinned officer asks.
"Yes, please. Do you know where is the nearest mechanic?" I asked.
"A couple of more miles down the road. We can give you a drive," The second officer offers.
"No, it's fine. I can walk it I've been running for a couple of miles now," I spoke putting on a smile, "Thank you so much."
I walk calmly down the street and soon once I'm sure I'm out of the officer's line of sight I take off running down the road. I reach into my bag pulling out my cell phone to call a friend in Louisiana to hook me up with a car.
"Yello?" He finally picks up.
"Hemsworth, hi."
After the phone call, I continue on my feet strong but soon hear a sports car engine roar. I stop, turn, and see Christopher come out of the BMW.
"Jamie! Long time," He says.
"Sure is. How's my little brother?" I asked worriedly.
"Off the grids. Ruthless. Just like your father," Christopher nods.
"Do you know where he is?" I asked.
Christopher looks around and ushers me in the car, "Not here." Christopher starts driving to his own home then speaks up. "First I'll take you to my house you need to clean right up," Christopher says.
"You are definitely right I've been running for about two days," I run my hand through my curly hair.
"You need a haircut? I can call my own barber to meet us," Christopher suggests.
"That will be amazing," I chuckle.
When we arrive at his house the barber and Christopher usher me in as the barber sits me down. After my haircut, Christopher handed me some new clothes and the keys to the BMW.
Christopher hands me a paper with an address, "This is where your brother is held up."
"Thank you. Stay safe Christopher," I clap his shoulder.
"You too Jamie," He claps my shoulder.
I walk back out to the BMW and get in saluting Christopher before starting the car and speeding off.
