Summary: Steve has always harbored feelings for you, it just took some Russians drugging him and almost dying for him to admit it.
Warnings: violence, drug usage, blood, cursing.
—"Quiet Dustin." You hiss to the younger boy as you slowly move down the hallway with him and Erica, "Go do whatever it is you had planned, just don't die please." Dustin nods and you watch as the two run off towards another hallway.
The only reason you were with them was because Steve had yelled at you to keep them safe, and here you were sending them off on their own. If you all came out of this alive you knew you were going to get it from Steve, but you pushed the thought away and continued to move through wherever you were in search of your friends.
A loud laugh made you still, before a lower laugh accompanied it. Quickly, you follow the sound, pushing yourself behind a large metal box as a few soldiers walk by and enter a room.
"It didn't work, the drugs didn't work!" Robins voice calls out before a fit of giggles follow it after. The sound of Steve's boisterous laugh quickly follows and you feel relieved to know they were still alive.
Your eyes widen as they suddenly stop and your heart drops for a second, as a guard stops and looks over in your direction before he walks away, scratching the back of his head. The rough fabric of your Scoops Ahoy uniform digs into your knees as you slowly crawl up to a metal container pressed against the wall of the room they were in.
You sit yourself next to it, hoping it would hide you enough in case someone left the room or walked by. Your breathing stills as you press your ear to the wall, trying to listen to what was happening.
The sudden and violent sound of an alarm makes you jump as you clamp your hand over your mouth to prevent any sounds from coming out. A small group of soldiers burst out of the room in search for what was wrong as other soldiers flock around the facility to join them.
Thankfully none of them look back towards the door and you quickly grab it before it closes and move into the room, the smell of blood and sweat entering your nose.
Your eyes drift up from the floor to spot your two coworkers tied up in chairs with a rather tall man with a white coat on standing in front of them, his back facing you.
He didn't seem bothered by the alarm as he watched the two and Steve and Robin didn't seem bothered by him at all. In fact, they were making fun of the man in front of them.
A large syringe catches your eye, it's resting on a small metal tray before you pick it up and get behind the man before pushing it into his neck and watching him fall to the floor.
"(Y/n)!" Steve calls out, a small giggle following as Robins face lights up. "Come cut these, they're starting to hurt." He stares, his eyebrows furrowing together as he looks down at his hands before wiggling his fingers to show which binds he was talking about.
"Yeah alright." You whisper, finding scissors on the same tray that held the syringe and cutting both of them free. Steve squirmed the whole time, causing you to almost cut him a few times while Robin almost fell asleep as she watched the blades slice through the fabric.
"Oh my knight in shinning armor!" Steve gasps, his hands flying around you as he hugs you rather aggressively, "I knew you'd come save us, kick some Russian ass and look good doing it." He giggles once more, his face pulling away from your body as he stares at you and moves one hand to touch the tip of your nose, making a little 'boop' noise to accompany the action.
