"captain!! There is somebody off the left bow!!" The lad in the crow's nest called to me. His scope pointing to where he was looking. Running over to the edge of my ship with my first mate in my wake I scanned the water to see who was out there.
My eyes caught sight of splashing as a head desperately trying to battle the waves. Befor I knew it my hat and boots where flying off. "Captain! Wait!" I could barely hear him as I unbuckled my belt and my cutlass hit the deck. "CAPT'N'S GOING OVER BOARD!! YOU DOGS GET THE FLOAT AND ROPE!!" I hear him shout to the crew as I dove over the ship wall.
I cleanly entered the water and gasped as I claimed my fist breath. I looked for the person drowning. The last thing I saw was a head slip under the water about ten yards out. I tore through the water and dove after the person. The water was barely clear enough for me to make out a body. Something was different about it though. I reached out to grab it around the waist. It's torso was unclothed and as I pulled it against me I was met with squishy flesh. The Lass was out as I dragged her to the surface. I kept her against me as I tredded the water to keep us up. The crew had found the float and was tying the rope. With an effort they threw the float over the side of the ship. I did my best to swim over to the float carrying the poor lass. The crew looked down on us and I could tell them dogs where getting an eyeful. Ignoring them I gripped the float and held tight to the lass,"Heave ya land lovers!!"
"You heard the capt'n!!! HEAVE!!!" Maximus called to the crew taking charge. The float stated to pull us to the boat, that's when I felt her stir. She groaned a bit and opened up her gleaming eyes. The treasured teal jewels found me in her sight, she gave a relived smile to me as pure as  a young maiden. Her locks where as fine as gold and streaked red, her hair seemed to flow with the water. At the sight of her smile I felt the red warmth creep across my face. What a beautiful creature.
The crew started to raise the float and I clung to the beauty as they pulled us up. She held me tight and I felt scales wrap around my leg. I looked down. The Lass was covered in scales from the waist down, her legs where only one big teal flipper.  I looked to the maiden in shock, her only response was a sly smile.
Right before me eyes her pupiles turned to slits as she lunged at me. Into my shoulder the sea serpent sank her teeth. I cried out as I felt the crimson coat my shoulder, but I held on to the lass. The crew was shouting and I could hear Maximum shouting orders. Their pace quickened as they pulled us up. The serpent was now starting to panic, she bit harder trying to break my grip. But I was not about to fall to the deeps of the sea only to be eaten by such a creature. I grit my teeth as the water met my wound and the maiden sunk her teeth into me violently.
With shouts of anger and fear the crew had gotten me in their grasp. They hoisted the two of us up on to the deck. I laid on the deck for a minute trying to regain myself. My clothes where drenched, the wound was pulsing, and I had a sea demon on board.
Despite Maximus's protests I sat up, grabbing the closest thing to a rag I could to stop the bleeding. I looked over to a couple of men who had forced the creature down. It's tail thrashed violently and it's eyes flicked with teal anger.
"Mermaid." I grumbled as I eyed the creature. She snarled at me and gave another thrash. "Damn fish almost cost me my arm." I spat at the lass. She glared at me in silent anger. I smirked at her as a plan started to for min my mind," good thing I know just what to do with you, Lass." Her eyes seemed to widen as a bit of fear ran through her. I turned to our youngest lad, "Jeremy me Lad, go fetch me the chest in my quarters. The one you always ask about." The lad looked startled at the mention of his name, but he gave me a nod and ran off as fast as his bare feet could carry him to the doors to my quarters.
He soon returned with the small chest I had set him after. he presented me with the small wooden box with the carvings of waves the shaman had crafted. Jeremy watched intently as I opened the chest. Inside was a silver cuff in graves in runes and tied to it was a red stone. I took the cuff and the key that dwelled with it. I flashed it for the mermaid and I could see the fear swell in her eyes as I unlocked the cuff.  "Hold her steady Lads." I said as I walked closer to the fish.
They held her well as she thrashed about. I made my way to the tail, and struggled with her a bit. Eventualy the silver cuff was secure on the lass. She gave a terrible scream as her scales started to shed. The crew of dogs watched as the mermaid trashed about. Her tail started to form two legs as her scales started to shed. She pulled her legs into her chest in pain. The poor thing laid on the deck in pain from the transformation and exposed. I felt a paing of sympathy for the lass but my shoulder reminded me otherwise.
The crew laughed and geared at the creature. They whistled and tried to sneak peaks at her. The dogs had Ben out at sea for too long. I grit my teeth and walked over to her. The lass only glared up at me, I ignored her and scanned the crew. Within seconds they all fell silent. I started to undo my coat, the crew watched me like starving dogs. I glared at all of them and they shrank back for even trying to get a glimpse of me. Gently I kneeled down to the mermaid, ignoring the cold look she gave me, I wrapped her in my coat. I helped her to her new feet, she wobbled and fell into me. With a huff she looked away and tried to cover herself with my coat. I held her bare chest against me as I addressed the crew," Nobody is to touch this Lass. She is a siren of the sea. To mess with her is to  be dancing with death.  Nobody is to harm her either. If I catch wind of any fool that dose other wise, he will be dealing with me." I looked every crew member in the eye as I made my point, "You laddies got that?!" "AYE MA'AM!!" They answered in a roar. I looked down to the maiden in my arms, she glared up at me with them teal eyes. I leaned down into her ear and whispered," but do not mistake me Lass. Make one move that shows I can't trust you and your flippers will not be the only thing that go missing.  You are a prisoner until we get to where we are going. " I pulled away and looked down to her. The teal fire in her eyes was blazing as her teeth were grit.
I dismissed the lads and took the lass to my quarders, followed by Maximus and and Jeb the medic on deck. She could barely walk as I guided her. Every step she fumbled and pressed against me. The wee lamb was beside herself. Huffing at every time she found it nessisary to lean on me for support.
