“what do you need?” hindi ko naiwasang hindi bigyan ng hindi magandang pananalita si irra. i knew about what she did. i knew that she was the reason why llysa drifted apart from me.

irra sat in front of me with a feeble smile. “i... i’m sorry... i am really really sorry..”

hindi ako sumagot. i remained staring at her intently. she barely looks at me. the irra that was facing me right now was far from the confident irra i met.

“i didn’t know you’ll be that sad dahil lang ikaw naman iniwasan ni llysa..” she continued. “i swear, jake... i was helpless. i didn’t even realize na sobrang stupid na ng ginawa ko. i tried sabotaging her performance last music festival... i even made her cry...”

“i messed up, real hard. i hope you can still forgive me... i am sincerely apologizing for all the mess that i’ve done.. ni hindi ko manlang naiconsider yung feelings ni llysa sayo. it was... for years. she loved you for years pero ako yung nakita mo...”

i listened and listened to her. irra’s words were similar to rafael’s. somehow, it made me realize things.

“when rafael told me na... llysa kissed you and left. i was in awe. don’t you realize?” taka akong tumingin sa kanya. she’s now slightly smiling. “she was trying... trying to make you realize that you have feelings for her too... tapang eh.” tumawa siya.

llysa’s making realize my feelings for her? through what? through a kiss?

“hindi mo nare-realize?” hindi ako sumagot. but it keeps bugging my mind. bakit ko nga ba hindi maalis sa isip ko si llysa? “you love her.”

pang-ilang tao na ba ang nagsabi sa akin nito?

“i am thankful i became a part of your life.” she stated. “you deserve someone better. you deserve the best. gaya ng captions mo sa kanya sa mga instagram posts mo... she's what you deserve. at mas deserve niya ng lalaking kayang panindigan yung nararamdaman right? not someone who’ll run away.”

tumayo siya at bahagyang tinapik ang balikat ko. irra remained smiling.

“rafael and i will help you,” patuloy niya. “go get your girl.”

we prepared. a lot of things. even our acting skills. chirra was originally a part of the drama and theater club. gustong gusto nilang subukang magpanggap to get llysa’s attention.

and surprisingly, it worked. puro kalokohan pero nangyari pa rin. i got her back in my arms. friends or maybe as a couple.

i just smiled the moment i felt her lightly kissed my lips. the time she said the three words, it pierced through my heart. tama silang lahat. i love her.

bakit ang tagal bago ko marealize?

“finally...” llysa hugged me tight. “after all my trials... hindi mo alam ilang beses kitang sinubukan? marami kaya.”

i chuckled. “kiss lang pala katapat.”

“aba.” tumawa siya. “kaya pala ayaw nung highschool years kasi pang college pa raw tayo, sabi ni God.” she joked.

i held her hand. “sorry. ang bagal ko.” tumawa pa siya lalo.

“okay lang yan,” she smiled. “love naman kita.”

doon ako lalong napangiti. i was right. i am right. she’s the best.

“i love you so much...”
