Chapter 5

After breakfast, while Jon is washing some dishes. Damian and Rachel are starting their project in the living room. "Raven! I'm finished! I'll just be in my room!" Jon yelled and Rachel just nodded. Damian looked at Rachel with confusion. "Raven?" Rachel looked at him. When she figured out the reason for his confusion. She giggles. "Raven's my real name. Rachel's my name in school or when we're in public places." She explained as she continued scanning her book. After three hours of work they already have great progress in their project. Raven rested her back against their sofa. "Let's take a rest. The only things missing here are some facts and conclusions. That won't be a problem." Damian said as he arranges some of their things. Raven smirked. "Yeah, my brain is aching. And I'm hungry too." She said as she patted her stomach. "Jon! Did mom left anything for us to eat for lunch?" Raven shouted while facing at Jon's open room. Jon's reading comics but he immediately looked at his sister when he heard her. "No. But she said that we could go out to eat. Wanna go to the mall?" Jon yelled as he closed his comic book. Damian and Raven looked and nodded at each other. "We'll just finish our project then we'll go," Damian said as he grabbed Raven's laptop and began typing. Raven raised an eyebrow at him. "Hey, that's mine!" She cried. But Damian just shushed her. "But this is our project." He said as he continued typing. "Don't worry the conclusion is yours." He said as he smirked at her, but Raven just rolled her eyes at him.

Damian removed his black hoodie while he fixes his hair in their restroom. He was wearing pants and a black turtleneck sweater. Once he got out of the restroom he saw Jon wearing a red polo shirt and some jeans. "Let's just wait for Raven then we'll leave," Jon said as he ties his shoes. Minutes later when they heard a door opened. They looked at the door as Raven came out of it. She's wearing black pants, a blue shirt, and a leather jacket and some fingerless gloves too. Damian couldn't help but stare at her. But he isn't focusing on what she wears. But on her face, pale skin, her naturally pink lips. This made Damian's face turn red. "Come on! I'm hungry!" Jon said as he put both of his shoulders on their necks.

Once they got off the taxi Rachel was about to get her wallet to pay when Damian stopped her. "I'll pay." He said and paid the driver. Once they entered the Mall Jon immediately pulled both of them to a Japanese restaurant. "I've been craving for ramen for weeks!" He said when they entered the restaurant. When they reached the counter, Jon sees one of his friends from school. "Garfield! Jaime! Karen!" He shouted as he walks towards them. But before that, he faced Damian and Rachel. "You know what I want." He said as he walks away. Damian and Raven just shrugged and ordered their food. When Rachel was about to pay Damian immediately handed his card to the cashier to pay. Rachel looked at him and raised one of her eyebrows. "You've been paying everything since we got here." She said as she puts her hand on her waist. Damian just smirked at her and lifted their tray. "You're welcome." He said as he winked at her. Rachel was shocked and was left there dumbfounded. Damian on the other hand was questioning himself and calling him stupid for what he just did. Damian and Rachel seat on the opposite side of the table. As soon as Jon comes back he has his friends with him. "Hey! Can they join us?" He said as if he's asking permission to the both of them. "Sure, why not?" Hearing those words from Rachel made all of them seat down. Karen seated beside Rachel and offered her hand. "Hey there! I'm Karen Beecher." Rachel accepted her hand. "Rachel." She simply answered and smiled. They were having a normal conversation while eating just like friends. They laugh, asked the two birds questions about their lives, and many more. Karen and Rachel technically became close to one another. Karen even considers Rachel as her best friend.

"Hey wanna watch a movie?" Garfield asked them when they get outside the restaurant. Everyone agreed. They were about to walk to the cinema when they hear people screaming and running. "What's happening?" Jaime asked. They run outside to see what's happening. They saw a hot-pink haired girl with green eyes being attacked by a bunch of aliens. But she's not an ordinary girl. She can fly and have powers. "Hey Robin, you got your utility belt with you?" They looked at Jon with a confused face when they heard him. "Robin? Have you been hitting on something?" Karen asked him. Jon smirked and signaled them to follow him. He leads them at the back of the mall. When he got there he removed his polo shirt and revealed this uniform. His uniform as superboy. "What are you waiting for? The people need us." He said as he flies and started attacking one of the aliens. "He's right you know." Rachel faced Karen and the others, who are now dressed in their uniforms. "Come on!" Beastboy said as he morphed into a bird and fly to the attack. "I know you're something," Robin said as he puts on his utility belt. "What are you waiting for?" He said as he attached his grappling gun to a post and swing with it. Rachel looked at them fighting and protecting the innocent. She looked at herself in the mirror near her. Questioning herself. Is she a hero? Can she protect people who need her help? Is she even needed?

She came back to her senses when she saw a rock about to hit a little boy. She uses her telekinesis powers to lift the rock away from the boy. She runs toward the boy and carried him. "Where's your parents?" She asked him as she runs to bring him to a safe place. The boy just shrugged. Rachel roamed and finds some guards to drop the boy. "Stay here, I'll be back." She said as she left him with the guards. She goes to a hidden place and chanted. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" She said as she transforms into her black one-piece suit and her cloak. She looked at her friends and formed her hand into a fist. She's ready.
