(Ohia's POV)
Saturday. The perfect definition of peace."Ohia, Marian's at the door. She says she wants to talk to you for some reason. You better come down here right now. She doesn't look very happy," screamed my Mum. Or not.
What did the devil want with me now? I hopelessly groaned as I headed downstairs to meet the angelic, considerate, harmless Marian. Note the sarcasm. "Took you long enough," Marian oh-so-nicely greeted me.
"Marian, why are you here?" I asked.
"I have some important news that will have a huge impact on you," Marian was starting to coax my curiosity. Whatever Marian said to me was indirectly referring to trouble. Shoot me now.
"OK.......What is it?"
"Something about Jared."
Jared? What did she know about Jared? Was she the mystery girl? No, that can't be because Jared goes to the same school with his supposedly new girl.
"Jared and I have been keeping a little secret over the past years. Before you freak out, we are not involved in any romantic way. This news that I came here to tell you about is confidentilal. If you tell anyone about this, you know what I will do to you. So, before I tell you, you have to swear that this will only be between us,"
Okay. What was happening? Is this some prank that she's came here to do on me?
"You know you tend to zone out a lot. Did you not hear me? I said you have to swear to me that you won't tell a soul about this." Once again I was snapped back to reality.
"Don't take this as a joke but my parents don't really approve to swearing. So, would you mind if I just promise you? I don't like to be involved in any swearing," I must of sounded like a baby. Who even says that? Well, sorry. Humans tend to say nonsense when they're under pressure.
"Are you even real? I said you have to swear. You either swear that you won't tell anyone or you won't hear the news at all." Now, we were just stalling..........
"Fine, fine, fine. I swear that I won't tell a living soul about this 'news' and if I happen to do so. You will kill me or torture me or whatever it is you do." I was trying to play it cool but inside my mind was shooting thoughts of what this 'news' could be about.
"Well, it's kind of a long story so you might to invite me inside. It might even take the whole day," Marian suggested.
Oh boy, this was going to be a doozy. So, (reluctantly), I welcomed Marian inside. We shuffled awkwardly to the living room until she found the words to start her 'long story.'
"I know that Jared broke up with you because he found another girl. What you don't know is that Jared are really good friends. Actually even more than friends. Not the boyfriend and girlfriend 'more than friends' but I mean we're related. He's my cousin. " Marian mumbled. Marian even looked nervous? I'm telling you, this isn't reality.
"Wha-, I started but Marian cut me off.
"Could I have a moment. I'll tell you the story and you listen. Make comments at the end. Got it?" Marian snapped. Nope, This was reality. Marian was still crabby as hell.
I nodded in agreement and she continued with her story.
"As I was saying before you rudely interrupted me," she looked at me with a sharp expression on her face,"Jared called me two days ago to say that he made a huge mistake. God, how do I say this? Jared and his new girlfriend got into a massive fight. Jared was out drinking and he was driving the car when his girlfriend was in the car. T-they had a car accident. The car was hit from the passenger side. Jared got severely wounded but his girlfriend wasn't so fortunate. She died in that car accident and now Jared is going crazy. I don't know what to do. He's taking drugs. He wants to drop out of school. His parents are crazy worried," Marian was rambling now. What? Jared? Drinking? Drugs? Dropping out of school? Heck to the no. This did not sound like the Jared that broke up with me three months ago.
I honestly thought this was some prank until Marian bursted into tears. What do I do? Do I comfort her?
Like I said, humans do not do well under pressure. My next move was the biggest regret I'd ever had in my life. R.I.P Ohia Mullete. Way to go. I could not believe I just did that........
