I stared at myself in the mirror as I sat on the white chair pushed up to my vanity. My room was a silhouette of dark navy painted walls with green shrubbery erupting out of every corner.  I quickly glanced around the room that was known to be mine, until now. I received an owl in the mail from Ablus Dumbledore himself stating that he had personally invited me to attend Hogwarts, a school I had only dreamed of attending. Before this I had been home schooled by my two loving parents, one a pureblood and one a muggle. Because of increasing efforts to hunt those associated with muggles, my parents though it would be wise to keep me out of any hateful public scrutiny. Our English countryside home was additionally no exception to this feat as we had no apparent neighbors for miles.

Starring at myself in the mirror once again, I inspected my face. I had a calm expression. Nerves were certainly present but I tired my hardest to suppress them. I removed my hair tie letting my wavy dark hair fall to below my shoulders, some of it framing my face. I sighed and left the vanity to pack my trunk and get dressed. I put on a red and black checkered pleated skirt, a black sweater, black see-trough tights and some chunky black chelsea boots with yellow stitching near the sole. I grabbed my unicorn hair wand and left my room, saying goodbye until at least the holidays.

I arrived at the train station fifteen minutes before the express would leave. I did not want my parents to go onto the actual platform with me as my father, a muggle, would certainly be subject to hazing by particular pure-blood families who hated muggle-borns. I also did not want to draw any unwanted attention from myself as fourth year transfers were somewhat rare for Hogwarts, or so Dumbledore told me in his letter. It was okay though, my father understood. I said my goodbyes to them. My mother embraced me tightly and I could see my father crying. I hugged him as well. They told me they loved me and I ran into the platform with my trunk, entering the unknown world.

I stepped onto the platform sort of stumbling as I slowed my run. I took in the picture before my eyes consisting of departing families, smells of chocolate and children screaming with excitement. I stood there for a moment. The train was about to leave. I pushed my cart forwards not particularly looking at what was in front of me but rather taking in the superior nature of the giant express.

"watch where you're going you dumbass"

I refocused and realized I just ran into some tall guy with striking platinum blonde hair. He stood there expecting some sort of an apology even though I'm sure my cart barely made a mark on his foot.

"Oh I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention," I responded back in a pretty calm matter.

He just looked my up and down for three seconds and walked away to meet with whom i assumed were his friends. Well, things are looking up I thought to myself. But I was determined to not let anything bring me down, I was just excited to escape the confinements of my own room.

Unfortunately I boarded the express somewhat late and most of the cars were completely taken. However, I was thoroughly impressed by the joyful ambiance of the hallways as children ran down them laughing and screaming. I assumed they were first years by the look of light in their eyes. But even though I had that same very light in my own eyes, I did not want to show too much excitement or else it would be blatantly obvious that I was a new student, and I disliked the awkward new student questioning.

But alas, I knew this questioning would come as I was invited by some people to sit with them. The guy who first called my name was wearing yellow and black robes which I assumed to be Hufflepuff. He had light brown hair and an endearing smile across his face. There were already two other people in the car, a girl also wearing Hufflepuff robes and a guy wearing Gryffindor robes. As much as I tried to conceal the fact that I was not a new student, it came to be painfully obvious as I wasn't wearing any robes.
