I watched in fascination at the scene before me. Brady, the sadistic werewolf, scrawled in pain as his transformation was slowed by another witch. I would have done it, but I was too lazy. Hey, I told him that I'd help him break the curse, not that I was going to be the one doing the ritual. I called a witch who owed me a favor. After some convincing, she finally agreed.
The vampire was a newly transitioned rapist who was picked from the prison. He was still passed out and was surrounded by a circle of flames. Elena sat in another ring of fire with tears in her eyes. She was shaking violently in fear. I stood next to her, holding her hand.
"You'll be alright, I've done the spell." What I hadn't told them was that I was using John to revive her. "It'll be over soon. Just take deep breaths, yeah? There we go." I stepped out of the fire and stood by Elijah and Enzo.
I heard a snapping branch behind me and was taken off guard when Elijah and Enzo, along with everyone, was subdued. I looked at the witch walking into the clearing.
"Lucy Bennett." I had vaguely remembered her face. "I'll ask you once, let them go and you'll walk free."
"This is an abomination! We are servants of natures! What you are doing is unnatural!" She yelled at me. I tilted my head in confusion.
"Then why did mother nature allow vampires to be created? Why were werewolves allowed to be created? Let my friends go." I flicked my fingers, snapping her wrists. She fell to the ground. "Continue the ritual." I yelled at the witch performing it. She quickly began to chant the spell as I turned back to Lucy.
"You are a disgrace to the Bennett family!" She spat out. I laughed. Klaus dropped the vampire and now was walking towards Elena. I knelt down and grabbed her hair, forcing her to look into my eyes.
"Oh darling, it's so funny how you think I give a shit." I sent her flying at the trees, knocking her unconscious. That released her spells on my boys. But not quickly enough when I felt hands piercing my chest, clutching my heart.
"Let her go or I'll kill the Bennett witch!" Damon yelled at them. They had frozen. One small movement could have me dead. I shook my head.
"Drink Niklaus!" I watched as Niklaus fangs pierced through Elena's neck, draining her body of her blood. I felt Damon tugging and looked down.
"NO!"
In his bloody hand was a beating heart. My heart. I watched as Elijah snapped Damon's neck while Enzo caught my falling body.
"No, this can't be happening." Enzo whimpered, brushing the stray hair away from my eyes. Blood dripped from my mouth as I tried to smile. Elijah held my hands, tears threatening to spill.
"Don't...blame...Niklaus." I managed to sputter out, blood spewing onto their shirts. I coughed again, and smiled. Maybe now I would see my baby girl. I was sad that I'd leave to heartbroken boys and my family, but I had lived. I made a new life. Made new friends, families. Everything went dark. I could hear people sobbing very faintly. Was that a howl?
I looked around my surrounding. I was in a grocery store. Wait, was this the prison world? Was I still alive? Ish? Alive-ish?
"Hello there." I turned to see Kai munching on pork rinds.
"Why am I not on the Other Side? I'm dead, aren't I?" I asked myself, completely ignoring Kai. Was I being punished? For interfering with the plot? Fuck! I was supposed to die, for real.
"Hey crazy, what are you doing here?" Kai asked.
"Oh, I died." He paused for a minute before tilting his head.
