"Are you feeling better?" Draco asks me the next night as we stand in the dark, our usual spot. I lied and said I was feeling much better. I hate lying, but I will do what I have to to keep him safe.
Draco takes my hand in his and pulls me close, before planting a kiss on my forehead. "I'm glad. I don't want you to hurt, or feel bad." My heart is beating out of my chest as he stands so close to me. He's never done anything like this. The closest thing was the broom closet a few weeks ago. My pulse is racing as I look up at him with big eyes.
He takes his hand and slowly caresses my check, then placing his hand behind my neck and pulling my lips to his. His lips are soft, and everything I had secretly hoped deep down. They are sweet as they crash into mine, in a slow passionate embrace. He pulls back slightly to examine my face.
"You're beautiful, Rose. You know that right?"
I wrap my arms around him and smile into his chest, letting my actions speak for themself.
"I want to show you something." Draco whispers in my ear, before leading me to the edge of the balcony. "Watch."
He waves his wand, and lets out dignified chant, "Expecto patronum!" A blue light lit from his wand, and flew through the sky, forming into a beautiful bird. A raven.
"It's beautiful, Draco. I thought you couldn't make your patronus! What happened?" I asked, enchanted by the bird.
"Professor Lupin told us when he taught them to think of our happiest memory. I don't think I had a happiest memory. Not one that was strong enough to conjure my patronus. That was, until I met you. I realized this morning that I could do it now. I was thinking about the first night you came out here. I never told you but, that night I was planning on..." his voice trailed off.
"You weren't going to—-jump? Were you?"
He was silent, which meant I knew the answer.
"But you came out, and you were kind. And then you came out the next night. And the night after. And now, I have this gorgeous little raven here with me. Oh, and my patronus, of course." Draco said, rubbing his thumb over the palm of my hand.
I couldn't believe that he was planning on killing himself that night. I am so glad I came out. I am so glad that he's mine.
"Have you ever seen my patronus, Draco?" I asked, putting two and two together. He shook his head, and with the swish of my wand, a blue light floated into the air to form a small dragon. He smiled at the figure, and then looked back at me.
"You told me one night, that we are here, in this time for a reason. I believe you are my reason, Rose."
