Nat’s POV
The night before I had looked over my psych notes one last time before I pack them away in my boxes. They read of the last theory we talked about in class. It's called The Seven Second Theory stating that in the last seven seconds before death the brain is able to recreate your life within that span; that you're indirectly aware of your unconscious state and that your subconscious has created a realm where you want to live deep down. I pack it away never really caring for that theory in class.
I tape up the box tight and leave it by the door preparing for my big move tomorrow. It's been four months since I've seen any of my close friends: Kendall, the boys; all gone. However I've been able to endure it with their calls and messages, not to mention all my school work and my old job down at the tattoo parlor. All I have to do is wait a week and I get to see them all again when they return back to London ending the European leg of the tour. Oh yeah my friends happen to be the world renowned One Direction and their opening act Kendall Hoy, but hey I don't brag.
Hours later, I roll over in the dorm bed I lay in, not my own, not the same. Since the break in Kendall and I eventually sold the flat not wanting a single part of it. Now I live on campus, luckily a hallway away from Toby, one of my best friends. I lay awake in my bed knowing tomorrow I have to re-pack my temporary home no longer able to stand the dorm life away from my own. Fortunately I can leave all my belongings at Harry's until I re-settle elsewhere, and luckily for me since I am off for the summer I get to meet with them for the rest of their tour.
I lean over and read the clock in my phone saying its 5:45 a.m. I sigh with defeat, yet another night of no sleep. I unplug my phone and send text message out: one to Liam, knowing he'll be awake at 8 in the morning out in Madrid. That's the current location of their tour date.
Good morning Li! :) Hope I didn't wake you too early, but can you tell Harry that I'll be moving my stuff today? I'd love you to the moon and back! ;) ~Nat
I lay my phone on my chest and look up at the ceiling as I hear the pad of footsteps down the hall, probably some poor student heading to work.
Almost immediately, I get a response, impossibly fast. I don't question it and read it.
Morning luv :) Isnt it a bit erly ther to be txting? And I’d expect you’d need help wth all ur stuff....
His text reads with all his texting slang.
I start to respond but there is a knock at my door and I slowly rise and creep to my door. Who would knock on my door at this hour? My door not having a peephole or chain, I slowly open the door, trying to ready myself for the unexpected.
I stand there stunned, my mouth ajar, looking ridiculous. "Eh...You." I say half aware I've said the words aloud."Nat." His low voice says making my insides flutter. He steps into my door way and wraps his strong arms around me and I breath in his scent of mint and cologne.
I bury my face deep into his chest, inhaling, being the first time I've seen him in person in months. "Liam."
We break from our hug and I give him a dimpled smile. "Come in, come in!" I say dragging him into my dorm. I turn on several lights and sit him down on my bed being the only place to. "What are you doing here? You're supposed to be in Barcelona!" I say exasperated.
"Yes I know, but I wanted to help you with your stuff!" He says giving me a smile that refreshes me, forgetting that I haven't slept in days.
"I could have done that myself Liam! This is ridiculous!" I say perturbed. He draws circles with his thumb on my cheek. "I know, I just wanted to see you flustered," he says giving me a perfect smile. "No, I wanted to see you, and having a day off before we performed again was a perfect opportunity."
"Awe Li, don't make me blush." I say looking at my bed covers, not really caring that I'm only in my pajamas which consist of an oversized shirt spandex, and a knee brace.
"Never." He says tilting my head back up, caressing my cheek.
I bite my lip and pull back from his gentle touch. "So how's been the tour so far?" I ask.
"Oh it's been fantastic_" He starts and we talk for hours of what the past four months have been like. He tells me funny fan blunders and I tell him of my exhausting classes. By now the sun has risen streaming light through my window. After one of his stories he checks the clock and stands clapping his hands.
"Alright, lets get you packing!" He says.
I stand also and smirk at him, "Why are you in a hurry Mr. Payne? Have somewhere to be?" I ask.
He smiles and pokes my nose. "The sooner we finish the more fun we can have." He says returning a devilish smile of his own.
