EIGHT & A HALF MONTHS LATER!
"I can't believe that I am going to miss their birth"Delilah sighs as she places the phone back into her pocket, after reading over the same message for the last fifteen minutes. She looked out the window of the plane, trying to closing herself off. Brodie, who sat next to her obviously wasn't going to allow that. He grabbed her hand, which caused her to turn around as Brodie confidently stated.
"No you're not Lilah, stop saying that, we're almost in Manchester, the flight lands in an hour and Maddie and Noa will take care of our luggage...Bear and Vincent got here already, so they have a car ready outside...nothing is stopping us in getting you to that hospital"
"I...Thank you Brodie...I don't know what I would to without you"Delilah observed Brodie as he told her this. She admired his confidence and the way he spoke. She loved at he always knew what to say and somehow would always take her problems and share her half of the weight. Brodie smiled lovingly at Delilah, as he teased.
"Probably get on that flight to Milano"
"It was an honest mistake!"Delilah protested. The raven (yes, they both dyed their hair black, well Brodie went back to his natural colour) duo exchanged a look, before their airplane section was filled with laughter. And if anybody had a problem with it , they sure didn't dared to bother or complain, knowing that they were Hadid - Malik & Styles - Tomlinson kids.
"Whatever you say lovely"Brodie sing-sang, a huge grin across his face.
"I hate you"Delilah pouted, causing Brodie to shake his head, a hand on his chest as he teased some more.
"Aww I love you too babe"
"How are you feeling Lilah?"
It was Brodie's turn to observe the girl. The two got a text about Gemma's water breaking at the end of their last set (Bear and Vincent finished all of their performances an hour prior and went straight to the airport), both not having a second to catch a breath before they were rushed to the car and trying to book tickets for the earliest flight possible. The babies were early, but that wasn't something unexpected, considering these were twins...but still, they never thought today would be the day and in the craze of it all, Brodie didn't get a chance to talk to Delilah and see how she was feelings. After all, this was as big of a change for her, as it was for Louis and Harry.
Delilah stayed silent for a moment, she tried to find a best way possible to phrase how she was feeling, knowing very well that Brodie wouldn't let her off the hook that easy and that he always...and I do mean it when I say it, always knew when she wasn't being honest. Maybe it's because they've spent the last ten years of their lives together, maybe it's because Delilah was a pour excuse of a liar...or maybe as Niall liked to say "This is some soulmates shit".Whatever it is, the point was that Brodie always knew what was up when it came to Delilah.
"If I'm being honest, I'm a bit nervous...okay I'm a lot nervous...it's just...what if they hate me"Delilah finally spoke, playing with the edge of her (totally not Brodie's) sweater. She smiled weakly as she looked up at the curly raven that sat next to her, the boy smiled reassuringly, not understanding how Delilah could ever doubt herself like this.
"Now that's a load of shit, the twins could never hate you, I don't think anybody can, you're going to be the best big sister to grace this world"Brodie chuckled, shaking his head lightly as he took Delilah's hand back into his, rubbing circles on top of it with his thumb. This was their way of trying to calm each other down and something they since they were ten. It was a "I'm here and everything's going to be o-k"
"I can't help, but feel scared...I mean, I'm nineteen in like two months, we're moving out at the end of the year, not to forget the tour we've have set out for next year, as well as Bear's and Vincent's wedding...I don't want to miss them growing up, they are my baby brother and sister...and trust me, time flies by and before we know it, they'll be dating and moving out as well...or even worse...married"
Delilah sighed as she looked down at their hands. Perfectly intertwined. She couldn't help, but feel frustrated at life. You could hear a bit of that frustration in her voice. As a kid, all she ever wanted to do was grow up, to be a 'big girl' and now that it was happening, she couldn't help, but crave for the time to just...slow down. It was true what they said "You always want what you can't have" and it was in these moments that Delilah realized just how much.
"Okay miss 'I love you, but could never commit to you in that way' Styles - Tomlinson...please breathe and listen to me, we're off from all of our responsibilities till January, so enjoy your time with the little munchkins...and if that's still not enough, that we will sit down and have a talk, see what we can do, if it means moving tour dates around...than so be it...your happiness is way more important than all of it"
Brodie knew that going 'easy' on Delilah wasn't going to do anything, but make her feel more nervous about the babies and stressed about not getting there on time. She needed to laugh...and most importantly she needed to know that she had a support system. After the day her and Brodie made up, the actor vowed that he would never leave her again, that he was always going to be there for her no matter what and one was as good as their promise.
As for marriage, it was something that first came up when they were thirteen and fifteen and both experiencing the thrill of first crushes and dreaming about the far future. The conversation came up again a few months later, more specifically after Bear's and Vincent's engagement. However, in those five years, one Delilah's wish never changed - she didn't want to get married. It's not like she was apposed to the idea of marriage. She was probably one of the happiest people when she heard the news of her best friends engagement...but it just wasn't something she saw for herself. She loved Brodie and didn't need a piece of paper from the city hall to prove it. Brodie thought about it, he knew that his parents weren't married nor was it something they were planning on ever doing and look at them, they were as happy as it gets. Brodie knew that as long as Delilah understood how much he loved her nothing else mattered.
"I love you Brodie, so much...I don't understand how I got so lucky to have you in my life, as my best friend and soulmate...thank you for not giving up on me...us"
"Hey Lilah, you're worth the wait"
Delilah leaned in and connected their lips. The two smiled into the kiss, grinning like idiots in love. He placed an arm around Delilah's back as they pulled away, while the younger laid her head on his shoulder, humming happily.
"Hey Brodie"
"Yeah?" Brodie turned his head around a bit to focus on the lovely, fondness written all over his face.
"If I were ever to marry anybody...it would be you Brodie"
