01| The First Chapter
JAELYN
"I can't wait to go home" Peai jumped in her seat and yelled in my ear.
I pulled down my beanie and glanced at her, before shaking my head and letting out a sigh.
I missed home too, six years away was far too long.
"We're almost there" I squeezed her palm.
The voice of the engineman echoed through the train, announcing we'd be reaching the Central Market in a few minutes.
"The first thing I'm going to do once we get off this train is to grab a bite to eat at that joint we always visited, they had the best-grilled salmon!" Peai licked her lips and clapped probably picturing her eating some of the salmon.
My stomach grumbled at the thought, but I nodded and pulled down my beanie, dreading taking it off once the train arrived at the market. An action which didn't go unnoticed by Peai.
"Jae, I told you, to stop wearing these things" Peai pulled the grey beanie from my head before I could reach it.
"Peai!" I reprimanded her and gave her a warning look. She frowned and tightened her grip on the beanie.
Without hesitation, Peai threw the beanie into the garbage bin. I smirked and looked through my carry-on bag, retrieving a scarf and started tying my hair.
Peai took hold of my hand before I could continue and gave me one of those sad-doll eyes looks that made me give her everything she wanted when we were kids, it didn't help that her blue eyes made the colour of the ocean seem boring.
"I've told you a million times, Jae, being different is alright. You don't need to wear a beanie or a scarf to fit in" Sure, you're one to talk. There was nothing different about Peai, she looked like your everyday Nsuoian. Sure her blonde hair was a bit on the gold side, but so we were others, I was the only different one, and I hated being different.
I sighed and complied, sure Peai wasn't like me but she still cared about me and had my best interest at heart.
The train reached a stop and we grabbed our bags and got out.
I felt good to finally breathe Nsuo air, I had missed it dearly. The Central Market still looked the same, it was where all four kingdoms could be one, and just buy and sell.
"The king and queen were supposed to meet us, but it's been postponed," I turned towards the rest of the recruits
They all looked surprised to see my hair, I usually wore scarves and beanies, but they knew better than to question me, I was their superior.
"They instead scheduled a meeting at noon two days from now, you are all expected to be at the palace and on time." Everyone nodded, they looked drained and we were probably more than excited to go visit their families and explore.
"You're dismissed" With a bow and a neat formation, the recruits made their way into the market.
"Come on I'm famished" Peai pulled me into the market square filled with tents and stalls.

"Two grilled salmons, one with a side of fried potato and one with rice." The waiter nodded and typed her order into a tablet.
"And what would you be drinking?" The waiter asked turning his focus completely to Peai as he glanced at her cleavage which was prominent through her tank top.
"Just water, sparkling." Peai winked and the waiter blushed averting his eyes.
"Okay, your food will be brought soon" He said but not before Peai slipped a tissue into his pocket with her number on it.
