The great hall was full of excitement and anticipation. I was all alone on the Slytherin table. Louise, Stephanie and Cedric were all in Hufflepuff, Stephanie's brother, Jeremy, was in Ravenclaw and Louise's sister Mae was in Gryffindor. The first years were waiting outside the doors to the great hall, getting an intro to school from Professor McGonagall.

The doors swung open and all the first years walked down the middle row of tables to the front of the hall. Professor McGonagall had the stool ready and the sorting hat in her hand, ready to call up the first student to be sorted. "Daisy Armstrong" She called out and a little girl, I presumed Daisy, walked up and took a seat on the stool. Professor McGonagall put the sorting hat on her head and it began to talk "Ahhh, Brave, Loyal, better be Gryffindor." The Gryffindor table erupted with an applause, welcoming their newest member to their house.

This went on for about 10 minutes or so before I heard a name I recognised. "Hazel Blake?" My ear pricked up, it was my sister's turn. I turned around to watch her and I was so nervous. I hope she was either with me, or with Mae so she could look after her. Professor McGonagall put the hat on Hazel's head and it started talking "Ahhh, Kind, Loyal, Your parents were in Gryffindor and you have a Gryffindor heart so GRYFFINDOR!" The Gryffindor table erupted with an applause, again, My heart sank, I'm the only one from my father that's in Slytherin and I don't even know why, I mean I'm kind, loyal and brave but no I had to be in Slytherin. Well I guess I wasn't that brave, I had a huge phobia of spiders.

I turned back around and saw Draco who was staring at me -had he been watching me the whole time?- I thought to myself, I gave him a weird look and he went back to talking to the other's. I was the only one on that table who wasn't talking. I feel so sick that I'm alone and I just know everyone is going to hate me even my parents, they will be more proud of Hazel than me.

They finished sorting all the new students and a gigantic feast appeared on the table in front of me. Once everyone had finished eating, we all got up and went to our common room.
