Shrek's Pov:
All of my life, I've been an outcast.
I was born with ugly, green skin and a disgusting, large nose. My ears are shaped like tubas, and I have horrible fashion taste. Nobody likes me, and nobody ever will. After all, who would love a disgusting ogre like me? Not even the woman who birthed me cares at all. She says so everyday.
I live a meaningless existence, knowing that when I die, it won't impact anybody. They'll all go on with their lives, acting as if I was never a person at all. I bet I won't even get a gravestone, and if I did, they'd destroy it whenever they got the chance.
It's not like I can be angry about it, that's just how life is. We're all put into little boxes formed from stereotypes and forced to play our respective roles. All that I am is a hideous, destructive ogre, and that's all I ever will be. Nothing will change, whether I like it or not. I just have to live with the consequences of being born into this world.
"Get up, you lazy pig! You're going to be late for your first day of senior year!" My mother croaked from downstairs, smoking a cigarette while drinking a bottle of vodka at the same time.
Although tired, I sighed in relief. At least this time she didn't throw the bottle at me.
"Okay, I'll get ready," I responded, getting out of my bed, which was basically a blanket on the floor, and going through my drawers. I put on a grey, baggy hoodie and grabbed a hair tie, tying my non-existent hair into a messy bun. Then, I walked to the bathroom and stared into the mirror, my brown orbs staring back.
I cringed so hard that my face almost collapsed in on itself.
I looked so horrible it should be a crime. My features did not go with my hoodie at all, and since I had no hair, my messy bun was just... bald. Not only that, but I had started developing pimples, so now my face looked like pepperoni pizza.
Why was I cursed to be so damn ugly?
I was thinking about changing my outfit, but my mother called for me again, so I headed downstairs instead.
"Shrek, there you are! I made you dinner, you ugly brat, to celebrate you leaving after the school year is finished!"
I looked at the dining table, noticing a plate absolutely drenched in baked beans. Some of it was even falling off of the sides and onto the table, causing me to lick my lips in anticipation. Baked beans were my second favorite food, with onions being my first, obviously! My mother was turning out to be very sweet this time around.
"Thank you, mom! You outdid yourself this time!"
"I didn't ask for thanks, you unsalted fry! I already know that my cooking is the best in the entire world!! Gordon Ramsay's got nothing on this!"
I smiled and devoured the beans, savoring every last bite of them. Then, I let out a little toot and blushed bashfully.
"Oopsie, beans make me gassy," I said, giggling.
My mother gave me a look of disgust, so I took the memo and grabbed a piece of toast.
"Thanks again, Mom! I'm going to run to school now because I don't want to be late!"
