"Do you have the homicide note that was left here?" I ask them. "Yes." They hand me the clear bag the note is in so no more fingerprints are laid on it. I put the note and birthday card side by side. "Jenny Marendel. I think she's the killer." They walk up to me, "No... it's Vincent's mother. It can't be." I nod, "Oh it very well could be. The little girl in that room is Vincent's sister. Her mother is having an affair with my best friend's father. Look at the notes. I mean, how many people spell wouldnt've as wouldn't've." They look up at me. "And the hearts. And the signature. And even the handwriting. This birthday card was written by Jenny Marendel. And so was this homicide note of her son." They both nod, "You ever wanted to be an Inspector because you would be so good at this shit. you're better then half the people we work with and most of them have been working for over 7 years." I smile at Inspector Mary's statement. "Alright, where can we find Jenny?" I look up at the door to see Julian, "Y/n?"

I fill Julian in on everything and walk into the room of the little girl. "I am Elizabeth, by the way. Call me Liz." I smile, "Y/n. This is my... boyfriend, Julian." She smiles. "He's the one. I get good vibes from him." He laughs at Elizabeth's response. "Y/n. Can we get your number to call you in the morning? It's 2:30 am. I know you live in Pearl Peak, we will give you a paper you can show security that shows we excuse you from being past curfew. Take her home." I nod, standing up shaking the inspector's hands. I give them my number, "Y/n, I don't have a home to go to. Vincent is gone." I sigh. "Do you feel comfortable going home with me? You can sleep in my bed, I'll take the couch." She smiles big. "I would love to!" Julia, Liz, and I go to walk out of the room. "Y/n?" I turn around. "Good work." I smile and nod, "Thank you, you too guys. Good luck.

"Do you have a favorite animal?" Julian asks as we both hold her hand and swing her like a swing. "Yes, Panda Bear!" We both laugh. "How about a least favorite animal?" I look at her. "Ew,  lizards. Yuck!" I nod, agreeing. "What!? How can you guys not like lizards!" I smile at Julian. She yawns. "Julian, can I get on your back?" He nods and I pick her up and put her on his back. She falls asleep so Julian and I  just talk. "Goodnight." He says, handing me Liz and kissing me. "Goodnight" I smile and go inside. I lay Liz on my bed and go to walk out of the room. "Y/n, can you sleep with me. I am scared I will have a dream about Vince" I nod and shut my door. I turn off the lights and lay down next to her. "Thank you for everything today, Y/n." I smile and hug her tight. "Of course." she falls asleep in my arms and I later fall asleep.

I wake up and Liz isn't in my room. "Well, why would she even go?" I hear  Jas say. "Shit," I whisper to myself. I run into the living room and everyone, including Liz, looks at me. "Did you snitch on Jenny?" I nod, "Yeah." She stands up "What the fuck! Why?" she raises her voice. "So you are going to act like just yesterday you were going to call the police on her and everything?" She stays silent. "And Y/n needed to. She helped out the case a ton and they need everything they can get to get justice for Vincent?" "Who even is Vincent. He doesn't need justice, do not give them any more help." Everyone but Jas looks at Liz. I guess she didn't know it's her brother. "Vincent is Liz's brother and Jenny's son. And why do you give a shit if I rat her out? You don't like her. And you shouldn't she broke your family apart." I take Liz's hand and walk to the kitchen. "You bitch!" "Jas!" I hear the boys raise their voice at her.

"Okay, what can I get you? You have to be hungry." I say as I pick her up and place her on the counter. "I am okay." I shake my head, "No, babe, you need to eat. I know you are hungry." She sighs, "Okay. Do you have cereal?" I nod and open the cabinet. "Which one?" I ask looking back at her. "Oooo! Fruit Loops!" I smile. "Milk or no milk?" I say taking the cereal and a bowl and placing it next to her. "Hmmm, milk please." I take milk from the fridge. "Tell me when to stop." I pour the milk and put it back when she tells me to stop. "Spoon, right?" She nods. "People eat it with a fork?" She says, weirded out. I laugh. "I mean, you never know." I carry her on the side of my hip and the cereal in my hand I am not supporting her back with. "I am sorry about Jas." I hear Carter say as he and Julian walk in the room. I sit down next to Liz and shrug, "No I get it. She's probably upset about, you know, her whole parent situation. She took it out on me, it's fine." They sit down. "You shouldn't be called that, you are everything but a bitch." I smile, "Thank you, Carter." He nods. "I'll go keep her company, we told her to go home and straighten things up." I nod. "Okay, see you later." He heads out and Julian kisses my cheek. "When your mom and dad getting home?" I smile. "20 minutes. We still have a seven-year-old here." I laugh as he makes a frowny face. "Sorry baby." I peck his lips. "All done!" Liz says and I laugh. I take her bowl and put it in the sink. I come back and Julian is in my seat talking to Liz. I smile. "We're home!" I hear my mom say and she walks around the corner. "Oh wow, the past few years went by fast." I laugh at my mom at her joke at me and Julian having a kid. "Mom!" Julian smiles. "Joking, joking." She says walking up to Liz. "So, Who is this cutie?" I smile and walk up to her too, "Liz. Her brother was uhm, murdered... yesterday. Her mother is Jenny." My mom looks at me. "Oh wow, sweetheart... I am so sorry. Is there anyone we can call?" I shake my head, "I tried. Her brother took care of her." My mom nods, "Wow. Okay. Uhm, we can call Jenny in the morning. I mean, shes her mother, she has to care. Right?" I nod, "Mommy isn't like that. She didn't want us but grandma and daddy wouldn't let her get an abortion. So she never took care of me and Vincey." We look at Liz in silence. "We'll figure something out. Promise." I say and Julian agrees. "I should get going." He stands up. "No, no, it's late! With that murderer on the loose, we don't need you to be next." My mom says and I smile. "No, it's okay. I'm just across the street, don't want to take up any more room." I look at him. "C'mon, Julian! It's no biggie!" He smiles at my mom, "Thank you." She nods. "Me and your dad are going to get showers and sleep. Goodnight everyone" Everyone nods, "Goodnight!" We say and head to my room as well. "Here," I give Liz one of my shirts, "You can take a shower in the morning." She walks into my bathroom and comes out a little later. She hopes my bed in between me and Julian and she lays her head on Julian's chest and is out like a light in seconds. "Good night," Julian says smiling at me. "Good night," I smile back and close my eyes and drift off to slip.
