An unknown voice sings,

'You are the light that shine through black of night

You are the star that heals the moon's scar'

And the strange melodious tune continues in the background.....

Trinnggg Tringgggg. I woke up to the blaring noise from my worst enemy, the alarm clock. Giving it a nice hard slap, that shut it off, I thought about the words from my dream. A recurring dream. I have been having this weird dream almost every night since I turned eighteen. It is unusual that it never changes.

'You are the light that shine through black of night

You are the star that heals the moon's scar'

Only these two lines, everytime, with the melody playing in the background.

Anyways, no point pondering over something which has been pondered over for three years now. It will be more beneficial to concentrate on the issue at hand, The Renewment Ball, that is today.

Now why is this ball named so unball-like? Let me start from the beginning.

Centuries back there was a disastrous war in the werewolf world. As the history goes, in ancient times the werewolf society was ruled by a group of royals. It was believed that they were the first ones created by the moon goddess to start the race of werewolves. It so happened, with time the royals, except two, decided that they were better and stronger than the rest and decided to go on a rampage to kill the weak ones. The two who didn't agree opposed this idea and led the other werewolves into the battle. The battle continued for months killing thousands, and stopped only by the interference of the moon goddess. She killed all the royals who were illusioned by their thirst of power and blessed the remaining two as 'The Peacemaker' and ' The Warrior'. It was that time, when the system of packs came into being. All the new alphas made a bloodpact to maintain this peace forever. It was the Peacemaker's duty to renew the bloodpact annually and the Warrior's duty to punish any who dared to break it. Thus, our pack came into being, The Silversun pack, the peacemakers.

So, every year we hold The Renewment Ball which every alpha and luna attends to renew the pact.

The ball started about an hour ago. Even when I have attended twenty of these, the significance and the enormity of this ball never stops surprising me. As I carefully tread through the ballroom to make way to my parents, I almost trip on my own feet. I am clumsy and not the mention the heels i had to wear with this stupid flowy long gown.As I walk forward, trying not to rip apart my gown or to bump into anyone, I see them exchanging pleasantries with Alpha Josh and Luna Penny from Redwood pack. I am just a few feet away from them when I am joined by my brother, James.

"Hey Z! How's it going with those heels?" he asks, trying to hide his laughter.

"It's a miracle that I am still standing straight and you are still alive, Jamie. If you don't want to be a dead Jamie you'll shut up about my heels this instant." I almost growl back at him, showing my annoyance.

He laughingly puts his arm around my shoulders and we walk together.

My brother is two years older than me and a doofus. Although he is a pain in my butt, still he is the definition of the best brother.

As soon as we reach our destination, we pay our respects to Alpha Josh and Luna Penny and excuse ourselves. All four of us make our way to the centre stage. It is the time for the renewment ceremony.

A lone bowl is placed on the stage with coal burning inside it. The Fire Bowl of Blood. It is said that this bowl was made from the ashes of those royals who protested and were killed by the moon goddess herself. It symbolizes the win of good over evil. Win of peace over war.

We go to stand behind the bowl and my father starts to speak.

"My fellow children of the moon goddess. My dear alphas and lunas. I, George Mitchelle, the successor of The Peacemaker and the Alpha of Silversun pack, hereby draw my blood to renew the pact of peace, in the name of the moon goddess. If it so happens, that I break this oath, I shall be punished with death"

With this he makes a small cut on his right hand with his left claw and let the drop of his blood fall on the burning coal.

He is followed by my mother.

"My fellow children of the moon goddess. My dear alphas and lunas. I, Mariah Mitchelle, the Luna of Silversun pack, hereby draw my blood to renew the pact of peace, in the name of the moongoddess. If it so happens, that I break this oath, I shall be punished with death"

Her blood falls next to my father's.

And the same ritual is followed by every alpha and luna in the room. By the end of it, the coal has turned red and the fire is burning the brightest.

Now to end it and extinguish the fire, me and my brother, who are the next peacemakers, have to share our blood.

First goes Jamie.

"My fellow children of the moon goddess. My dear alphas and lunas. I, James Mitchelle, the son of The Peacemaker, hereby draw my blood to seal the pact of peace, in the name of the moongoddess."

His blood joins the burning coal.

I am the last one.

"My fellow children of the moon goddess. My dear alphas and lunas. I, Zoey Mitchelle, the daughter of The Peacemaker, hereby draw my blood to seal the pact of peace, in the name of the moongoddess."

And I draw my right hand to let my blood fall in the bowl. But before my blood could join the others and seal the pact, I hear a swoosh and the The Fire Bowl of Blood falls down; breaking the pact; breaking the peace.
