I woke up to the sound of snoring, I was laid on Silver's chest. 'What? How did I get here? I was on the nose of the ship unless I fell asleep?" I asked myself. I slowly pulled myself off John and walked up to the deck, the sunlight blinding me. I walked to the top of the ship joining my father at the wheel.

"Did you rest well?" he inquired.

"Yes," I nodded. "Did Silver carry me to his quarters with him?"

"Yes, under my instruction.  I was worried you may have lost your balance and fallen in," he said tearing his eyes away from the sea for one moment to look at me. "This ship needs both Flints on board," he smiled and placed a hand on my shoulder, he said no more and wrapped me in a tight hug. "You had me worried."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because I know Vane, he would have hurt you," he said letting go and looking down at me.

"You and Silver both say the same things," I said.

"It's because we know," Silver said and appeared behind me.

"Do you just follow me around the ship?" I asked.

"Yes..." I cut him off before he could finish.

"Let me guess, under my father's instruction?" I asked rolling my eyes.

"Yes," he said.

"I hate being stuck on this ship with you two," I chuckled.

"Yes, but you also like spending time with me and drinking rum together," Silver said.

"Touche," I giggled.

"Are you getting her drunk again?" Flint asked.

"No, I would never. I'm hurt you accuse of me such a thing," he said.

"I know you both too well, now leave me be I need to concentrate on the journey ahead," he said. Silver and I skipped down the steps and took our usual spot on the side of the ship.

"Who would have thought a merchant boy would have become a pirate," I said looking him up and down.

"I know it's hard to believe. The sea has shaped my life in many different ways," he said.

"It does for us all," I said pulling the brim of my hat down a bit more, I played with the rings on my fingers and stared out at the swirling waves.

"I don't like it when you're quiet, it makes me nervous," Silver said.

"I'm just thinking about everything, all the things that have happened," I said.

"I see, how is the wound?" he asked.

"Sore," I said.

"You're lucky, it was deep," he said.

"Well I guess I owe you my life," I said.

"I wouldn't call it that. I did that because I care for you," he replied. I turned and leant my elbows on the side and faced him.

"Does Silver have a crush on a captain?" I teased.

"No, not at all," he said and turned his back on me.

"You know Vane would gut you if he found out," I warned him.

"He'd be dead before he could touch me," Silver said.

"That's what you think," I said and turned him to face me. "But Vane doesn't have to know," I whispered.
