Chapter 4: Horace Slughorn

Penelope's POV:

"What? Are you crazy? How can a house-elf have two masters?" I ask, dumbfounded.

"It's all in Hogwarts A History, Penelope." Hermione said as we sat at the kitchen table with Ginny, Ron, Fred and George. Severus was in the living room talking with Mr. Weasley. Though by the look on his face earlier he did not really want to talk with the red headed man.

"Mione, do you think I am going to read it, when you can just tell me what it says." I stated, crossing my arms over my chest.

"But what is the point of that, you wont learn anything." Hermione said stubbornly. I huffed and rolled my eyes.

"Try calling him." Severus hissed when he and Mr. Weasley came back in. I gave him a look, but did as I was told. I flicked my wand a number of times calling Kreacher's name in my head. Suddenly a large popping sound came and the house-elf was in front of me.

"Mistress." Kreacher smiled. "What can Kreacher do for you?"

"So you are not going to resist passing into my ownership?" I questioned.

"Kreacher would never resist Mistress Penelope. Kreacher would resist Harry Potter." Kreacher answered. I smiled to myself and looked up at Severus and Mr. Weasley.

"Well give him an order just to be sure." Mr. Weasley encouraged. I nodded.

"Kreacher would you mind making me a cup of tea?" I asked. Kreacher nodded and fixed it right up. I thanked him and drank my tea as Mr. Weasley and Severus went back into the living room. "You may go Kreacher."

I followed quietly into the living room to listen in on their conversation.

"If you need me to come back and get Miss Carver for any reason just owl and I will." Severus stated.

"She wont be no problem I assure you. She gets along with everyone." Mr. Weasley smiled.

Third Person POV:

Despite the fact that he had spent every waking moment of the past few days hoping desperately that Dumbledore would indeed come to fetch him, Harry felt distinctly awkward as they set off down Privet Drive together. He had never had a proper conversation with the headmaster outside of Hogwarts before; there was usually a desk between them. The memory of their last face-to-face encounter kept intruding too, and it rather heightened Harry's sense of embarrassment; he had shouted a lot on that occasion, not to mention done his best to smash several of Dumbledore's most prized possessions.

Dumbledore, however, seemed completely relaxed.

"Keep your wand at the ready, Harry," he said brightly.

"But I thought I'm not allowed to use magic outside school, sir?"

"If there is an attack," Dumbledore said, "I give you permission to use any counterjinx or curse that might occur to you. However, I do not think you need worry about being attacked tonight."

"Why not, sir?"

"You are with me," Dumbledore said simply. "This will do, Harry."

He came to an abrupt halt at the end of Privet Drive.

"You have not, of course, passed your Apparition Test," he said.

"No," Harry said. "I thought you had to be seventeen?"

"You do," Dumbledore said. "So you will need to hold on to my arm very tightly. My left, if you don't mind — as you have noticed, my wand arm is a little fragile at the moment."
