The obnoxiously loud alarm clock went off blaring the beginning of Stuck In The Middle by Tai Verdes. I got up out of bed, contemplating hitting the snooze button, but changing my mind with a squeal as I remembered that today I have my very first photo shoot! "Holy fuck" I thought "this is really happening."
I quickly threw on some nike spandex shorts with a muscle tank top and pulled my messy bed head into a high bun. I laced up my custom neon orange pumas and made my way to the car to get some breakfast before the shoot.
Of course, breakfast was at Lunar Coffee and Pastries. I got my regular iced matcha with almond milk and vanilla bean syrup, and settled on a vegan chocolate chip muffin that Billie got me hooked on.
I genuinely couldn't believe how much my life had changed in a matter of a few weeks. I went from a nobody, risking it all to move to california, just hoping for some shitty job at a music store, to being signed to a record label and recording my very own full length album. And now, I get the opportunity to experience a professional photoshoot.
When I arrive to the shoot location, I'm rushed into hair and makeup. They do a glossy, no makeup-makeup look on me, leaving my face looking fresh and radiant, and my hair was put into two French braids. Next I got to see my outfits for the shoot, and needless to say I was THRILLED to find out it would be a monochrome shoot! My first outfit was khaki ripped up and baggy jeans, with a tan oversized puma tee shirt and beige puma sneakers. The second outfit was a neon green (and probably Billie approved) miner jumpsuit, green and white nike Air Force 1s, and a bright green bucket hat and ascot. And the last outfit of the day, and probably my favorite, was a neon orange and hot pink checkered cropped long sleeve shirt, a neon orange leather mini skirt, and the most amazing neon orange thigh high boots I had ever seen (which I got to keep!)
The photoshoot lasted about six hours with a thirty minute break in the middle, and at the end I went back to the dressing room to change into some clothes for the rest of the day. I wound up being given all of the clothes from the shoot so I put back on the first outfit and decided to go shopping. I settled on a little shopping center in Beverly Hills with some designer stores. I wasn't even sure I'd be let in, but to my surprise, when I arrived in Louis Vuitton, they treated me so kindly and one of the workers mentioned that he loved my music.
As I was looking at the classic bags, a cute girl in head to toe gucci caught my eye, she looked up from the shirt she was observing and smiled at me, winking and then immediately looking back at the shirt. I spent about thirty more minutes perusing before I picked which bag I wanted to buy, and the girl had unfortunately already checked out and left. I made my way to the cash wrap and placed the purse on the counter, pulling out my wallet, when the cashier stopped me. "No miss, a girl already paid for your item." I was shocked when he simply boxed up my bag and let me leave. Who could have bought that for me?
When I got home and unboxed my new bag, I opened it up to switch purses and saw a note inside. It read "Hi, if my guess was correct, you decided to pick this bag to buy. I saw you oogling it and since you were so cute I decided to slip this note in it. I'm Gwen, the girl who smiled at you. Here's my number, we should go out sometime. XOXO, Gwenneth. P.S. Don't worry about me buying the bag for you, it was nothing. Getting to know you is worth it."
Wow. I didn't know what to do, so I typed her number into my phone and sent a simple text. "Hey, it's Jade from LV." Here goes nothing, I thought. It's been two weeks since Gwenny and I started talking, and tonight we have our second date. It's at my place, and I'm cooking a chicken pot pie for us for dinner. I set up a cute little table with a jasmine scented candle and a bottle of wine. I hear a knock at the door signaling that she's here. I open the door and am immediately greeted with a kiss on the cheek that smelled a little of tequila.
"Hey babe, whatcha cookin?" Gwenneth asks.
"Chicken pot pie, homemade, not that frozen shit. How was your day?" I respond.
"Pretty boring, I had some press and a long photoshoot. But it's better now that I'm here with you." Gwen was a high end fashion model and was busy preparing for New York fashion week coming up pretty soon. She was stunning and I was not surprised when I found out she was a model.
"Well I'm glad you're here. Dinner is about to be done. Just sit down and poor yourself a glass of wine love." I walk her to the table and the oven beeps, so I rush over to take the pot pie out. And just to my luck, it's burnt. I start to silently panic. Gwen can be a little... angry, at times. Mostly when she's had alcohol or things don't go right for her. I didn't want her to be mad that the food was burnt, but there was no un-burning it at this point. "Hey Gwenny, babe, the pot pie kind of got burned." I said cautiously.
She sat there and started at me silently, slowly getting up after intense eye contact and walking up to the pan sitting on the stove. My breath hitched as she lifted her hand up to caress my cheek gently. She gives me a soft smile, but it quickly falters and turns into a look of rage as she slaps me hard on the same cheek she was caressing thirty seconds ago.
"Ow, what the fuck Gwen?!" I yell.
"Poor baby can't even cook a fucking pot pie right. What can you do?" She shouts back.
I just stand there in awe. I knew she got angry at times, but I didn't think it would ever turn physical.
"Get out!" I scream at her. She obliges and slams the door behind her, and the second it closes I fling the pan across the room, putting a hole in the wall behind the couch. I wander off to bed with my bottle of wine and drink myself to sleep.
The next morning I'm woken up by the blinds in my room being opened up and the sun beaming through. I keep my eyes shut and let out a grumble. I was hungover.
"Yo Jay what the hell, you missed our recording session. That's not like you. So I came here to find you asleep with hole above your couch and an empty bottle of wine in your room? What has gotten into you?!" Shit. I never set my alarm last night for the recording session with Billie and Finneas today, so now Billie was in my room questioning where I was.
I shoot up out of bed and run directly into Billie, who evidently had a glass of water in her hands because it spilled all over me. "Dammit." I mumbled, starting to shuffle toward my closet for a change of shirts, when Billie grabs my arm.
"Hey dude, it's okay. It's just water for your clear as day hangover." I finally look up at her and her face turns to concern. "Jade Rose Holloway, what is on your face?" She asks.
I had totally forgotten about what happened last night. "It's nothing." I say, quickly covering my cheek with my hand, which immediately was removed my Billie.
"That doesn't look like nothing. Did Gwen do that to you? You two were supposed to have a date last night." So I finally broke down and told her the whole story, and she made sure to call the apartment complex to get my wall fixed for me. But one thing was for sure, she banned me from talking to Gwenneth anymore.
