I Don't Want to Forget

You had already forgotten what had happened, but when you saw Peter with a bump on his head-with Yondu trying to inspect it-you got worried.

"Peter! Yondu! What happened? I'll fix it!"

"No, (Y/n)!" Yondu pushed you away. "Just get out of here and forget. It's what you do best." He glared at you, turning back to Peter.

"I'm sorry," you muttered with tear filled eyes, "I'll fix it."

You walked to the nearest available ship.

"(Y/n), what are you doing?" Kraglin asked.

"Oh, hey Kraglin! I'm... what am I doing?" Your mind was just plain blank. You couldn't remember.

"Are you going somewhere?"

"That's right! I've decided to go on a vacation. I'm not sure where yet, but it'll be fun. See ya around Kraglin!"

You jumped in and flew off, setting your destination on the ship's system.

-----------------------

"Where's (Y/n)?" Yondu was looking everywhere for you. "Kid, where's (Y/n)?"

"I don't know. But you did tell her to get out of here and forget so.... Hmmm..... I wonder where she went."

"Don't sass me boy."

"Kraglin, have you seen (Y/n)?"

"Yeah, she said somethin' about a vacation."

Peter noticed how Yondu looked so worried. He hadn't ever seen him like this before. Occasionally he'd look like that when Peter got into trouble, but it didn't stick long. (Y/n) reminded Peter of his mom. Kind, caring, understanding and definitely relatable.

He then pulled out his picture of David Hasselhoff. He didn't know who his dad was, but he wished he did. The picture was never enough. He remembered looking up at the stars on a clear summer evening with his mom.

"You say he's up there mom?"

"Yes. He'll come back for us someday Peter. He will."

And he remembered waiting.

Yondu.

Yondu was kind of like a dad, but if he was he wasn't a very good one. He was only decently nice and almost close to a father figure when (Y/n) was around. But now she was gone.

"Yondu?"

"What's wrong kid?"

"I'm worried about (Y/n)."

"Well suck it up Quill. A lot of people come and go."

Peter broke.

"Really? Just 'suck it up'? (Y/n) could be lost and alone and you tell me to 'suck it up'? I think we should try to find her! She could be in danger Yondu, and you'll just sit down and forget about it? But what's the point? She's probably forgotten about us by now. It's what she does best."

"Why wouldn't she come back? She might still remember."

"No, she won't. And she won't know I miss her either. Because she'll forget."

"Who says I won't miss her?" Yondu was getting defensive.

"You? Even if she remembers you, all she'll remember is how often you yelled at her! Because that's all you ever did!" Peter was in tears, but he didn't care.

Yondu went silent and contemplated this for a moment. Peter noted how sad he looked for that split second.

Yondu snapped out of it and swiftly walked past Peter. "Get out of my room or I'll let them eat you. Remember, you're alive because of me."

"Ugh." Peter threw his head back. "This better not become a running gag."

---------------------

The lake glimmered under the waterfall, as the moonlight slowly rode along the ripples on the water. It was like a dream. Slow and progressively more captivating.

"I'm trying to remember. This used to be an important place somewhere in my youth and I can't remember."

Yondu stopped in his tracks. He didn't know you knew he was there.

Your appearance was stunning.

You wore a long, loose navy blue dress. The sleeves, which came down barely above your wrists, were made of thick lace. You felt as though it reflected how you felt. You had a passionate depth for wanting to know the truth. But you couldn't remember.

"I just can't remember anything. I'm so stupid. It's what I do best."

Yondu slowly approached you, hesitantly hugging you from behind. Your folded arms tightened as he grasped them and rested his chin on your shoulder against your head.

"I used to love someone," you whispered, with tears, turning around. "But I loved them so much it shattered me. And I can't remember."

"But I can." Yondu stated, picking up your hands.

"I've missed you."

"I have too princess, I have too."

Yondu suddenly crashed his lips onto yours, and you enjoyed every moment while in his arms.

"I don't want to forget." You said when you broke apart.

"I won't let you." Yondu smiled and rested his forehead against yours.

"(Y/n)!"

"Peter!"

He ran towards you and jumped into your arms.

"Peter! I've missed you so much!"

"It's so good to see you again (Y/n)!"

You and Peter looked over at Yondu.

"Well, come on! You're part of this family too!" You laughed.

Yondu smiled and kissed both you and Peter on the cheek.

You were sure you weren't going to forget.

They wouldn't let you forget.
