“Come with me!” Arnav's mother order and marched inside. Arnav followed her in after glaring at Khushi. She just rolled her eyes started cleaning the utensils as well as kitchen and was on the way her room when she heard the mother-son arguing.
"But mom, it is not possible!"
"But why not?"
"Because you are misunderstanding everything!"
"Arnav, everything is clear in front of my eyes."
"No it's not!"
"You have to do it, and tomorrow itself!"
"Mom try to understand! It's nothing like that!"
"it's the question of our family reputation, you have to do it and that my last decision!"
"Mom.."
"Go and sleep now!"
Arnav stepped out of the room and found Khushi standing. He pulled her to his room and pinned her to the wall.
"What the hell do you think of yourself?"
"Sir..."
"Shut up! Just shut your mouth ok! You have no idea what's going to happen tomorrow!"
"What sir??" she asked little scared.
"We are getting married tomorrow!"
"What!" she yelled with widened eyes.
"Yes, it's my mom's decision and final!"
"But sir..!"
"Agree or you are fired!"
Soon Arnav saw her mom looking in through the window.
"I don't want mom to doubt us..!"
" I don't care, what your mom thinks! I've come here to work. Not to sell myself to you!" Khushi was hurt. She found the situation turning out to be very cheap. She couldn't believe that Arnav even thought that she would agree to do it being Lav's friend. Just only because he couldn't hurt his mother.
"There is no reason for you to pass such comments. You have nothing to be disgusted about. I'm not asking you to spend the night with me, I'm not asking you to help me make my future kids. I'm just asking you to put up an act." Arnav calmly answered as he understood Khushi's reason to be fretful.
"Act?" Khushi asked dubiously.
"Yeah. Don't tell me you haven't heard of contract marriages? Or haven't you seen hindi movies like cocktail or kites?" Arnav asked with hopeful eyes.
"Ok, so you're trying to say, like till the time your mom is around, we have to pretend that we are like bound by the institution of marriage while we are actually bound by a piece of paper which have some set of rules written, like I'm not allowed to kill you? Etc." Khushi replied.
"Technically correct" Arnav answered and then continued squinting his eyes and trying to gauge his mother's expressions, who was now staring at them through the window. "Umm.. My mom... She's seeing" he felt awkward at his desperate situation.
