Wow. It's Wednesday. Meaning there are 2 days until my album drops. And boy, am I nervous as hell.
(sidenote: i knowwww that June 14th this year was on a Sunday , but let's pretend it's a Wednesday day so the album would release on a Friday. Get it? Okay 😌)
Right now, I am in New York on my way to do an interview with the Breakfast Club. My first radio interview ever and I already know they are going to ask questions about Roddy after our pictures on Instagram. And im cool with that, as long as they're not all in my business im cool with that.
I walked into the Breakfast Club and I was greeted by Angela, Envy, and Charlamange.
"It's nice to finally meet yall" I said
"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Zion. Your seat is between my chair and Charlamange's chair. In about a few seconds, the light right there will turn green, that means we're live on air." Angela said
"Okay, gotcha!" I said
In just a matter of seconds, the light turned green and I was nervous as hell.
"Morning everybody. It's Dj Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamange tha God, and we are the Breakfast Club. We have a special guest in the building. She's a brand new artist that I'm pretty sure everyone has heard of." Envy introduced
"She's the hottest thing out right now" Charlamange said
"We got Zion in here!" Angela said
"Wassup. It's an honor to be here and it's my first radio interview too, so it's cool." I said
"So this is your first time in New York?" Envy asked
"Yeah, its cold as fuck out here. I'm used to the humidity in the south." I laughed
"Where are you from Zion?" Charlamange asked
"I was born in New Orleans, I lived there until I was 5 then I moved to Houston when Katrina hit. I was basically back and forth from New Orleans to Houston a lot." I said
"Yeah, I hear your accent"
After talking more about myself, my nervousness easily went away. I really fuck with radio interviews, I could talk all day.
"To cut to the chase, you have an highly anticipated album that's coming out this Friday. Why don't you tell us about it." Angela said
"I've been working on this album for about a year. This is my first baby and this album is really just me." I said
"You got any features?" Envy said
"Yes, I got Mulatto, Megan, Lil Baby, and Jacob Latimore on there ."
"What can we expect?" Angela asked
"You can expect songs about heartbreak, happiness, overall life." I said
The interview was going just great, until I got asked the most annoying question ever.
"So the blogs been going crazy, after you confirmed that you and Roddy Ricch are indeed dating. How long has that been on going?"Angela asked
I mentally rolled my eyes before answering the question.
"We've been seeing each other since the beginning of April." I said
"How have you adjusted with dating in the spotlight?" Envy asked
"That's a good question actually, I'm really not used to people being in my business about who I'm dating. But it's like I asked to be in this industry so i might as well get used to it." I said
The rest of the interview was straight vibes, it gave a chance for everyone to get to know about me and why I do what I do.
After the interview, we took a picture and I went off to do more promo for this album.
