Cassandra was sashaying onto the footsteps of the building, followed by a group of other students, a mixture of guys and girls. Then it suddenly hit me.

Cassandra has blue eyes. And all the other students has brown, and they all love blue eyes, so that will make her the most popular girl in school. And she's fucking 3 years older than me, in ninth grade, while I'm just a small sixth grader. Her hatred of me was very clear as soon as she stepped into the orphanage.

I held my breath as she passed me. If she recognized me, my life here is doomed. Officially and instantly doomed.

The contacts and wig worked in my favor, and she passed me without any glances or suspicions. I put on a pair of fake glasses. Hopefully that'll add up to my disguise.

I made my way to my class as the bell rang. I signed. I've survived a moment with Cassandra. Now I'll have to survive the rest of my time in her school. Not that she owns it, but because she's now probably the queen.

4:00pm, later that day...

The school bell rang, signalling the end of the day. I couldn't wait to get back to Taylor. Aside from the bumping into a group of popular girls at recess and them calling me a nerd, my day wasn't that bad. School here reminded me of my life back when I was still with my mom, family intact. Stop I scolded myself, the past is the past,I want to focus on my future. I wanted to do that, but I've heard of an old saying that goes: the past has a way of returning. But it couldn't be true, is it?

"Mai!" (Destiny's Vietnamese name, the one that her family has chosen for her besides Destiny, is Mai, which means golden flower. It suits Destiny's hair, if you know what I mean) A voice cried out from behind me. I froze. I knew who it belonged to. Skyla. She, beside from Cassandra and, was the only student in the school with an English name.

I tried to act casual as she approached me. "Oh, hey Skyla." She dragged my hand and pulled me to a hidden place behind.

"Don't freak, but...I think that you're not from around here. You're not who you look like." with a quick movement, Skyla removed my wig. "Aha!"

I gave up. After all, it's impossible to deny it. "Yeah. How do you know that?"

"I'm the same." She replied mysteriously. It took me a moment to realise that Skyla, too, was wearing a wig. She took it off, revealing long brownish-blonde hair. Her eyes, which most of the black wig covered, was a beautiful hazel color.

"Soooo, how did you end up in here?" Skyla placed her hands on a nearby table and merely smiled.

"Um...I started in an orphanage and someone adopted me and I don't wanna be recognized as Taylor Swift's adopted daughter and..." My words died in my throat as I've realised what I've just said. "Oh no"

"Wait..." Skyla immediately opned her phone and started scrolling through articles. She gasped and showed me her screen. It was a picture of me with Taylor, taken by the paparazzi in Invercargill. "You're Destiny!"

"Yes, but lower the volume." I hissed at her.

She grinned sheepishly"Sorry. But why are you here, and wearing a disguise? That Cassandra gal is already getting on my last nerves." I smirked. I so agree with that.

"It's a long story. I was just an orphan before Taylor came and all of this happened. And I have a dream. A big one. Let's just say that me and Taylor shared the same dream when we were at the same age. I want to be able to make music and get in the dance and musical world. But I don't want that to affect my life at school and my relationship with friends. I don't want to be treated differently and I wanted to see what being normal is like. That's why I came here, with a disguise on, trying to blend in." A laugh popped out of me "But as you can see, that backfired with you-easily."

"Wow. Tough life, huh?" Skyla ran a hand on her hair. "I can relate. I wanted to be an actress and dancer since I was small. But my parents aren't that supportive. They wanted me to be a doctor or lawyer. Too boring." She made a face, and I laughed. "So I've moved in with my auntie. She was the only one who respected and understood my decision. I came here, because I've found a movie school here, and I've been there for a year. Need another few years to get a part in a movie. The bad thing is, my parents don't know what I'm doing. They think that I came here to study harder, because they know that Vietnam education is one of the best and competitive in the world."

I liked Skyla. The main reason was her hatred of Cassandra, but there was her connection to me, a girl that was chasing her dreams and passing all the obstacles.
