Chapter 15

Liam’s POV

After all the hype about the engagement settled down, Niall and I fell into step again. We had been talking about starting a family soon and I decided that we should move into a bigger house. We were packing up our last box and as Niall taped it shut, I called a moving van to help load it all.

“Ni, before we leave, I want you to meet someone.” I told him. He nodded and I grabbed his hand.

I led him down the block and across the street, near my old house. I stopped at the familiar porch from so long ago. I took a deep breath and led Niall up the steps.

I knocked on the door and not too long later I heard the door unlock and the familiar elderly lady opened it up.

“Oh, Liam!” She exclaimed. I dropped Niall’s hand and gave Ms. Molly a giant hug.

“Ms. Molly, It’s so good to see you again.” I said, stepping back and grabbing Niall’s and again. He instantly squeezed mine. He was telling me he was nervous. I looked at him to see he was shaking slightly and his breathing was a little shallow.

“Excuse me?” I asked Ms. Molly and she said to come in whenever we’re ready. She walked back into the house and I closed the door.

“Ni, Niall? Look at me. Don’t think about anything else. Look at my eyes. My eyes are the only things that matter right now.” I told him, rubbing his arm to calm him down. “Shhh…” I soothed. I pulled him into a hug and his breathing slowly returned to normal. He was still quivering a little bit, but he was calm.

“Babe, what’s wrong?” I asked him. He looked at me and his eyes showed pained.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Li. I just didn’t know who she was and I got scared.” He sobbed, clutching to my shirt.

“Shhh…babe. It’s okay. Ms. Molly won’t hurt you. She is very sweet. This is where I stayed before I found you after you ran out of my house when my dad yelled at you. I promised her I’d let her meet you and we’re about to move so I didn’t know when we would be able to come back.” I said. He took a deep breath and he nodded, his face determined.

“Okay. I’m good. I’m better. We can go in.” He said, grabbing my hand and holding it tightly. I pulled him into the warm house and I took off his jacket, hanging it on the hook in the hall. I took off mine and did the same.

“Ms. Molly?” I called.

“In the kitchen, dear.” She replied. I led Niall into the kitchen and I stopped. He was standing slightly behind me and still holding my hand tightly.

“Ms. Molly, I’d like for you to meet, Niall, my fiancé.” I told her, grinning. She dropped the towel she was holding and looked up quickly, making Niall tense behind me.

“So you’re the Niall I heard so much about.” She grinned. He hesitantly nodded from behind me.

“Oh I won’t bite. Will you come into the light so I can see you better?” She asked lightly. I pulled him forward softly and he walked closer to her. She lightly grabbed his hand and he jumped. I nodded at him and took his other hand in mine.

“You are a handsome lad.” She said.

“T-Thanks.” He said, stunned.

“Oh, no problem dear.” She said.

We talked for a little while longer. Niall eventually opened up and began talking in complete sentences.

“Well, Ms. Molly, we had better get going. Niall will you go wait in the hall. I would like to talk to Ms. Molly alone.” I said. I kissed him on the cheek and he walked into the hall.

“I’d like to thank you, for everything. If you wouldn’t have taken me in, I don’t think I would have found him.” I said. She took my hand, and wiped away a tear that fell down my face.

“You’re more than welcome. I can tell he has gotten better since you last talked about him.” She told me.

“Yes, the therapy worked wonders. He still has a few issues trusting people, especially new people, but I help him with that too.” I told her.

“You’re a great man, Liam. He’s lucky to have you.” She said.

“No. I’m lucky to have him.” I said, smiling slightly. “We’re thinking of starting a family. We are going to adopt. We both want a little boy.” I told her.

“Oh! That’s so sweet!” She cooed. “You’ll have to bring him to meet me as well.” She said.

“I most definitely will.” I promised.

“Now, go back to your fiancé before he gets too worried.” She said, pushing me in the direction of the hall.

“I’ll see you soon, Ms. Molly!” I called.

“You ready, Nialler?” I asked him. He nodded and handed me my coat. He had already put his on while I was talking to Ms. Molly.

I grabbed his hand and we started the walk home for the last time.
