Chapter 10

"Hey sweetie wake up and let me take a look at you." Cathy said lightly shaking me awake.

"Morning" I said with a yawn.

"Well you sure are colorful that is for sure. How do you feel?" She asked.

"I feel sore but not to bad an Advil would help with that and hungry." I said stretching and smiling.

"Okay, get dressed and ready for school. Breakfast is donuts today so help yourself. If you start feeling bad or anything the school knows to call me and I will either come get you or one of the boys will bring you home. Here is a house key, the alarm code and our cell numbers. Zander gave me your number this morning and your phone before he headed off to the gym with Xavier. Benny called this morning and some how your dad got your mom out last night and they are on the road again." She said as I got out of bed.

"Well at least they are not coming back here." I said taking the paper with the numbers and the alarm code in one hand and the house key in the other.

"No, Benny said he will help them find a place but they can't stay with him and he doesn't want them to stay with him. He is trying to stay sober and with them around he knows it won't work." She said with a sigh.

"No it won't and I don't need him drinking any more." I said walking over to the closet.

"I will let you get dressed, I have to leave for work so I will see you tonight." She said kissing my forehead. I wanted to push her away but instead I put both hands behind my back.

"Okay, thanks again for everything." I said smiling at her.

"You're welcome sweetie." She said before leaving me to get ready for school. 

I finished getting ready and headed down to the kitchen were I ate three donuts and washed them down with milk. I had a little bit of time so I loaded the dishwasher and whipped down the counters before putting the donuts away. I honestly didn't know where shit went but it looked good there so that was good enough for me. I found my phone by my backpack on the kitchen table. 

I decided to wait for Max outside so I set the alarm and locked the door. The house was a lot bigger then my old one but the front yard was about the same. I heard Max's front door open so I walked over.

"Hey" I said walking over to the car.

"Holy shit, are you okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine." I said opening the door.

"I guess the rumors are true you took one hell of a beating." He said looking at me when he got in the car.

"Yeah, tell me something why do some bullies need their friends to hold the victim while they do the beating?" I asked.

"Because they are weak." He said starting the car.

"So does that make me stronger then them?" I asked.

"Yes, I would say that it does. Every one said you stood up for yourself the last couple of days and that Steve and Nic are assholes." Max said.

"I never told anyone about Nic." I said.

"They know Sky." He said sounding sad.

"I did tell Zander and Xavier last night." I said.

"I bet they didn't like it to much did they?" He asked.

"No I don't think they did." I said laughing.

"Why are you staying there now?" He asked.

"My parents moved." I said looking out the window.
