Rather Be

"Can I ask you a question?" Daniel asked as he plopped down on the couch and sat beside Kathryn.

"You already did," she giggled as she continued to browse on her iPad. Feeling a head rest on her arm, she looked to her side and looked at DJ who was looking up at her with an undescribable look on her face.

"Bal, I'm serious."

"Go ahead. Ask away."

"Why did you forgive me?" This question took Kathryn by surprise.

"Why are you asking me this? We talked about this already. Let's just move on DJ."

"Because I want to know. You should have left me out on my ass. I broke your trust and there are so many guys who are probably better for you... But you're still here with me. Why?"

Kathryn sighed as she put away her iPad and turned her body to face Daniel. Taking his hands in hers, she looked into the windows of his soul.

"DJ. The fear of losing you for the rest of my life overpowered the fear of you hurting me again. I know you're sorry and I forgive you. You're right, you broke my trust and there are guys who may be better for me but in order to love, you must learn how to forgive. People may say I'm making a mistake but I don't care. I'd rather have an imperfect you than any other 'perfect' guy out there," Kathryn explained.

Daniel looked down at the small dainty hands holding his face and turned his head to kiss the hand of the woman who was always there to pick him up. From their first encounter to now, she never failed to amaze him time and time again. He silently thanked the heavens above for giving him the angel right in front of him.

Closing his eyes, he grinned remembering a certain song title that he tweeted a long time ago and whispered it against her palm, "I love you more today than yesterday."

They both sat in a comfortable silence for a few moments before hearing the intercom turn on and announce that their flight was now boarding. Kathryn stood up, grabbed her purse and smirked as she held out a hand for Daniel to take.

"Come on, we got a plane to catch and another place to discover together."

As they both settled in their seats on the airplane, Daniel took Kathryn's hand, intertwined their fingers and kissed each one of her knuckles. They both smiled in content as she rested her head on his shoulder because in their mind, body and soul, there was no place they'd rather be.

"It's easy being with you, sacred simplicity. As long as we're together, there's no place I'd rather be..."
