AIDEN
Caleb looked at me in utter disbelief as I threw away my phone and stared at it for a moment. It vibrated against my mattress again, and I leapt across the mattress, retrieving it before Caleb got his hands on it.
"She's calling, bro. What should I do?" I looked up at him frantically, and he sighed.
"Let's pick up the call for starters."
Nodding, I received her call and waited. "Aiden?"
I nearly lost my voice at her calling out my name. What the fuck was I supposed to say? She had never called me before; it had always been me, so this was unexpected and had totally kicked me off my game.
I grunted when a pillow slammed against my face and watched Caleb gesture towards the phone. Right, she was still waiting.
"Hey, love." From the corner of my eyes, I saw Caleb slap his forehead, and I flipped him off.
"I'm at the dinner with my family," she whispered, and I heard low jazz music humming in the background. "Are you free right now to spare some time for me?"
I fell against the bed, sighing almost dreamily. "I can spare my entire night for you."
It was not entirely true. After practice, Caleb and I decided to call it a night by meeting at my house to play Call of Duty. Just five minutes ago, I ordered four large pizzas. However, receiving this call from her may have altered how my night was going to end.
"Would you mind joining us?" Words got stuck in my throat. "I'll explain everything once you get here."
There was a sense of urgency in her tone that made me sit up and look at Caleb. But my mouth had its own mind.
"When have I ever said no to you, Hana?" I pinched the bridge of my nose at the words that left without any hesitance. "Text me the address."
When she hung up, I stared at the wall in front of me blankly as the conversation from before slowly registered in my head.
"What the fuck did you agree to, Aiden?" I snapped out of the haze and looked at Caleb.
"I think I'm meeting my in-laws today."
"What?"
I leapt off my bed and quickly opened my closet. "I don't have time to explain, man. Help me pick an outfit so I can impress my girl."
I took out all my clothes and laid them out on my bed. I had no idea what she was wearing or why she had suddenly invited me to her family dinner. However, it must be important considering she had invited me out of everyone.
"Are you fucking skipping?" I stopped and looked down at my feet and looked back at Caleb. He stared at me in incredulity for the third time tonight. "I can't fucking believe this."
Ignoring the shake of his head, I changed out of my clothes into a black turtleneck and black khaki. Once satisfied, I fixed my hair by gelling it and grabbed my navy trench coat.

I didn't know what I was expecting when my cab dropped me off at Le Gavroche. But what I saw had made me stop dead in my tracks with a sharp exhale with heat flooding me instantly.
Hana had said she was going to wait outside when I texted her I would be there in around five minutes. And I was glad she did because standing like a fool in the middle of a luxury restaurant did not seem so eloquent.
This woman. God, this woman was the most beautiful human I had ever laid my eyes on. I felt like a complete fool for not bringing a bouquet of roses for this beauty. She was simply breathtaking, a vision to behold.
