⊰ chapter twenty ⊱
"No men will enter the Women's Court. It is for the women of the Kingdom to come and rest." Dara said and Ann quickly jotted down the speeches, both strolling down the corridor across the setting sun, "Every Thursday, I will meet the children and women at a private arch. We will stop our trades with Emer."
"They have the fastest ships," Ann remembered.
Dara shook her head in denial, "I will not allow an Eastern's shadows inside my Kingdom again. Ayree is still inside my walls and either way, she is the wife of an Eastern."
"History keeps repeating itself," Ann commented, thinking, "It's like they planned it."
The Easterns have always tricked people into their grasp to extend their family and blood line after the First Call War broke off between the division of the realms and most of Eastern were turned into ashes. Though their magic was saved, they were successful in growing it back.
Just how the Lux family was; the Princess of Zisk was lured into marrying an Eastern, Vosker Lux and again, after all the history that goes down Zisk's chronicles and the oracles made....Emer's Princess Ayree was now married to another Eastern. Dara was slightly a little thankful towards herself for banishing Theon.
Theon being an Eastern was going to sting till the end of a decade of her breath. Adona had always been an optimic and mysterious woman, always on her own but Dara questioned her conscience. It's been another two weeks since she took her life and the news spread quicker than any wind.
What was evident was the Easterns had stopped their malicious attacks. North has been off theft and robbery for two weeks now and it was rather questioning. Dara was fearful of what they had in mind for their next step. She would check her compass again and again to see if it was not a coincidence or if something was missing. When nothing was, she wanted to dig down the history referred to behind the recent incidents.
Adona's suicide had left her crumbs to work on. She denied seeing either of the dead bodies. She would prefer her plate emptier than it already was with all the politics brewing in her very own cauldron. In the past three weeks, Zisk had seen an unexpected flip of laws. None called it a fault, nor a good change. It was somewhere in between; they were still speculating it.
Dara was doing exactly what Theon had challenged her into; winning people. She had realized how the throne was given to her but as power hungry she had been and was, she wanted it right and wanted to be worthy for it. She expected big moments, big changes and big bends of laws before she descended but without a husband, everything stayed at pause.
"I already lead the Caucus into another set of laws. I hope everyone agrees. If they don't, I will lock them," Dara said and Ann grinned, writing it down, "I need to find a match, Ann."
