Only time has the capability of giving and healing wounds. Humans are mere his followers doing what time has in store for them.

Rain POV

I sat next to my mother's death bed. She was pale and her breathing shallow. No signs that she was alive. It was only her soulful black eyes looking at me with affection.

Her affection made me choke my sobs. I wanted to give her a goodbye in a good manner. She always said that seeing me happy was the most peaceful thing for her.

I wanted to provide her with that peace. I wanted to be her brave child.

With shaky hands I held her fragile ones. They were cold. She slightly turned her head in my direction and passed me one of her sweet smile.

"Don't go.", I whispered.

First papa and now she. How will I live?

"Your dad is calling me honey. I have to go.", she said.

She was married today but the first person she thought about was dad.

Was it just the coincidence that both were to die on the same day.

"Stay for Marcus at least.", I begged.

She sighed and patted my wet cheek.

"I married Marcus so that you have someone to call dad. I know Marcus can never take his place but still. I have to go.", ma pleaded.

"Take me with you then. I want to be with both of you.", I murmured.

Mom shook her head.

"I can't. I can't betray your father. When your dad was telling you about finding your prince I was standing right outside the door. Listening to both of you.", she said.

"But eavesdropping is bad.", I argued.

She chuckled but it soon turned into a cough. I rushed to get her water but she stopped me.

"Listen my sweet girl. You have a long life dear and everyone that comes has to go. You come alone and you go alone. You can't argue with nature. We will both watch you from up. Be a strong girl and always remember I gave birth to you. You are a part of my whole and I want you to be and do everything I couldn't. I have a diary....."

She stopped suddenly. Her hands fell and eyes rolled back. She looked peaceful that only meant one thing that she was also gone.

"Mom!"

I woke up with a jolt. Cold sweat running down my face.

It was just a dream Rain. Just a dream.

I repeated this line in my mind. My heart was hammering in my chest. I closed my eyes and swallowed back my tears.

"Bad dream?"

I heard a voice and jumped.

I looked in that direction for the source of voice but my tears and the darkness has my vision blurred.

The man got up and pulled the curtains making the light come in.

Damien

He was standing there brooding. He crouched on the bed near me and placed his hand on my forehead. He glared at my forehead. Maybe reprimanding it.

"You still have a fever.", Damien stated. His tone sharp.

Why was he this angry?

"Damien", I said softly placing my hand on his right cheek. He nuzzled his nose in my hand making me giggle.
