His Undying Love

Jason's POV

Helena Jose, the name itself gave me butterflies everytime I heard it. She was my everything... my best friend, my one and only true love.

Until she left me 24 years ago.

I met Helena back in my mafia days 30 or so years ago, we were inseparable, two peas in a pod, the ultimate hit man couple. Helena was one of, or if not THE best fighter and shooter in my gang, she was AND always will be the most badass ass woman I'll ever know... Her father Eric Jose used to be in the army, he served his country for 10 years, nearly all of Helena's life then, but those two have the strongest bond you could ever see between a father and his princess.. who I wanted as my Queen.
We practically grew up together when we were teenagers... it was only then when I had my eyes on her, that I knew she was going to be mine, of course I had to work hard to get her attention but, once I got it... we never separated. I was ready to give up my entire life for her, I was ready to throw away my title as the head of the DelaVega just to be with Helena, she wanted to live a simple life and settle down.
But that all changed one night when I came home to a note on the bed.

I wish I never opened the stupid thing.

After that day I tried looking for her everywhere, wondering what I did wrong? I never treated her like shit, we made sensational love to each other every day... she was forever mine as I was forever hers, but... I knew something wasn't right so I never gave up looking for her.
After a few years passed by I slowly fell deeper into my depression, I couldn't feel anymore. I was gambling, drinking heavily and tortured my liver, buying random useless shit while I was drunk!

Ultimately, I was running my family's money AND the DelaVega name to the ground, my family disowned me and called me a disgrace. Well, not all of them deserted me, the only family that never pushed me away or gave up on me was my sister... Victoria, and the Hernandez familia, these are the only people who still love me and saved me from myself, if it wasn't for them I'd be in more debt and spiraling out of control.

Victoria 'married' another mobster who took over my family's business, he's the head of one of the mafia's down south, but truth be told... I hate the swine, I don't know why, I just have a weird feeling about him.

As I stood there thinking about my past, I completely forgot about the envelope that was still in my hand. I looked at it for a bit and took out the remaining contents...
There were baby photos in the envelope as well, I was so confused about it.

Why do I have these?

I opened the letter and started reading, and just like that moment decades ago... my heart began to break again.
