Safe Place [HC] (JJ Maybank x Reader)

- We all know that for JJ to be actually affected by something, it needs to be something really really bad;

- It can be something regarding his dad or even some altercation with Rafe/Topper that went too far;

- The saddest part would be that it always happened on the days that he's in his best mood;

- Maybe he had a good breakfast, surfed with JB really early in the morning, or just woke up in a good mood in general;

- Anything was enough to make this boy happy;

- And a boy's day was also always a plus; 

- I mean, who doesn't want to hang out with their best friends for a whole day?;

- And that is until that bad thing would happen;

- Let's say: he gets a call from his dad, in which he lets his drunken words get to his head;

- Or, Rafe, Topper, and Kelce have some fun with antagonizing both him and Pope, whenever they would find them closer to Figure 8 (Probably waiting for John B);

- And that would get to his head, eventually;

- He would act like their words didn't get to him, at first, acting all relaxed and chill about it... while the words kept on replaying again and again on his head;

- By the end of the day, he would be showing some type of emotions towards what happened;

- Both JB and Pope wouldn't think too much about it when first noticing;

- But as JJ would act more emotionless while staring at nothing, deep in thought, the stranger it got;

- Since he didn't really react over the call or Rafe's bickering when it happened, they honestly thought it was something else;

- After that, they just stared at him in confusion, as they do not remember what could've happened since they got back home;

- Some desperation later, they gave up and called you;

- You were quick to come over, as confused as them, and be received by the image of JJ laying on JB's guest's bed, staring at the wall, not moving a single muscle;

- You would lay down next to him and say a small "Hey bubs", expecting him to give you his usual smile or to pull you closer to him;

- But he doesn't;

- Even after you asked him "what's wrong" 5 times in the last 15 minutes, he wouldn't say much;

- He would say "Not much", "Don't worry about it" or even "I'm just tired";

- You wouldn't push him to talk more after any of those answers, you would just hug him and pull him the closest to you possible, cuddling him to sleep;

- And as JJ would snuggle close to you, your mind would go into detective mode;

- Who can get under his skin? It didn't take long for your mind to find at least two options; 

- It had to be one of the two;

- So... After that being said:

- Both JJ's dad and Rafe can expect flat tires in the morning.
